LOEWE’s latest publication is made in collaboration with Japanese artist Fumiko Imano. Featuring double self-portraits of Imano alongside Dutch model Saskia de Brauw, Publication #17 showcases the house’s ready-to-wear Spring Summer 18 Women’s collection by Jonathan Anderson in a series of exclusively commissioned photographs.
Fumiko Imano’s practice focuses on self-portraiture across photography, video
and installation. Her ‘Twins’ series is a reaction to settling in Hitachi, Japan, after
spending her childhood in Brazil and early adulthood in London and Paris. Feeling alone, Imano began to cut and paste 35mm self-portraits to create seemingly-candid collages of herself in the company of an imaginary twin sister.
Photographed on location on the grounds of Paris’ Maison de l’UNESCO on the day before the last runway presentation, Publication #17 captures Imano’s ‘Twins’ revelling in the freedom of a French holiday in tandem with model Saskia de Brauw, jousting with a baguette, and hiding amongst the sculptures of the building’s gardens in a series of looks styled by Benjamin Bruno.
This digital version of the exclusive hardcover publication features a filmed interview with Imano.
