Dear Jenny: you capture the wondrous absurdity of life and living so perfectly, and by perfect I mean broken and organic and growing and healing and stubbornly persisting and finding the way to go on no matter what. You make my broken bits feel acceptable and even worth nurturing and celebrating, as I stumble toward the light. And you make me laugh giant belly laughs in terrible places, which feels like Winning Life. High-fives for All The Win. I love you.

If I was to write my own stories about myself, it would resemble Broken in many ways. I’m an addict with mental illness. Today I’m not gonna do meth...again, because I did it around six this morning and slept a couple of hours and had to deal with my dogs explosive diarrhea. Still high and desperately wanting to come back down. It’s evening now. Then tomorrow will be my first day of sobriety. I’m so tired of being broken. Excellent book. I’ve bought copies for a few people. It’s my life too
