None of the same old stereotype characters and no worn out story lines. How refreshing. No hot sex between partners and no curse words. This book stands alone and provides proof the author has creativity. I loved his investigative partners. Recommend this book.

5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Suspense, edgy, with a keen wit/sense of humor thrown in, made this mystery superb! There is a quality of experience(s) and/or knowledge of police, detective, private investigator, and lawyer. All of those held and kept me reading for long periods of time. The story/plot flows smoothly. Smiley and McBlythe are the key main characters. All characters are well developed as the story advances. This first book of the series is FREE! What a surprise! Bruce Hammack—YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT WRITER AND AUTHOR!!! I am a new fan. And, I will be gladly buying the rest of this series. Plus, all other stories you write! 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

This book is a winner imo. I really enjoyed the two main characters and how their working relationship and friendship evolves. I’ve been reading free books for a few years and this is the first time I’ll be paying for the second book in a series. I’m not sure if this speaks to how cheap I am or how good this book is. Maybe both? ;)

I could not put the book down. I loved Steve Smiley, a Blind retired detective and Heather McBlythe, the lawyer, former detective and she has a finance degree. They were working on the case of Ned Logan, a former D.A. And the murder victim in this case. Ned was a very good friend of Smiley, and Smiley had thought this was a murder not suspicious death. McBlythe was kicked out of the Academy after her disgruntled father took matters in to his hands. Smiley and McBlythe began to work together on Logan’s case. It was intriguing on how they came up with the facts and solved the case. You must take a few hours and read about the case. I can’t wait to read more.
