Description

She’s always acknowledged her special needs, but she never thought they would include him.
Saddled with a job she hates and a detestable boss she likes even less, Adeline Reynolds could use a break. It doesn’t look like she’ll get one today. Her service dog, Coco, is alerting her she’s about to have an epileptic seizure—and her frustrated blind date has left her to deal on her own. Enter firefighter Dean Christopherson, who escorts her to the nearby fire station, where she can suffer through her ordeal safe from injury and prying eyes.
Dean—known as “Crash” to his friends—didn’t expect to find The One in a diner during his lunch break, but he’s blindsided by the beautiful, brave Adeline. She brings out his every protective instinct—along with the carnal ones. As they get to know each other, Dean’s feelings for Adeline grow fast, as does his irritation with her boss, whose behavior is suspicious at best.
As much as he wants to protect Adeline from the world, Crash has to tread carefully. His overprotectiveness could push her away…and leave her vulnerable to a man whose obsession has reached the boiling point.
** Shelter for Adeline is the 7th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Make sure you keep a fan close by for this one! This is book 7 in the Badge of Honor series and it features firefighter Dean Christopherson, Adeline Reynolds and her service dog Coco. I love a strong female lead. Even though Adeline had her medical issues she was no pushover. And Dean? Well, he definitely has a way with words. I mean he REALLY knows how to say what is EXACTLY on his mind. He is delicious with a mouth made for sin! In this book, unlike the others in the series, the story line was more about the relationship between Adeline and Dean. The threat to her was more of a background story that came to the forefront every now and then throughout the book. There was the right amount of suspense and it progressed steadily. Susan Stoker always writes fantastic stories but it's the amazing characters that have me hooked. They're always so real and down-to-earth. It doesn't hurt that they're easy on the eyes , they're all heroes in one way or another and their leading ladies are equally amazing. I can't express how excited I am for the next book in this fantastic series!

This story is the 7th in the Badge of Honor series. It can be read in order of the series or it can be read as a stand alone. This book is about Dean (Crash) and Adeline. Dean is a firefighter/paramedic and Adeline is in advertising. This story was amazing! It touches on Adelines seizures and Dean's understanding anf patience. This book also touchs on multiple personality disorder. This story has the drama, the feels, and a whole lot of yummy writing!! You can't go wrong with this book or this series! So, pick it up and get reading already!
  • Love it and the series

I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone. It was a nice easy sweet read with a enough heat to keep you interested with nothing to make you feel dirty or make you roll your eyes. I loved Dean (Crash) and loved the way he loved Adeline no matter her medical issues. This wasn’t an instant love book which turns me off. This can be read as a stand alone but it does help to have some back story to the other characters in the books but isn’t necessary at all.
  • I love this series

Dean is seen as a playboy, but there is nothing more he would like than to find someone to have future with. As a fighter fighter he doesn't have the easiest of schedules to work with. Adeline has been trying to find someone worth her time, but seems to hit a road block when she tells them about her health issues. When the current man she is meeting with for lunch ditches her when her service dog alerts her, she is struggling with how she will get somewhere safe. This book is sweet and slow with the start of the new relationship and will make you feel the building of attraction between them. Will this be a match for the ages or will this be fun for now? Although this is the seventh book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series this can be read as a standalone.

This is Adeline and deans story, and it doesn't disappoint. Excellent story--Adeline loves what she does in marketing, but her boss takes full credit for those that work for him. Her dog Coco-certified as a service dog-alerts Adeline that she's close to a seizure. Adeline is upset when her dog signals that she's about to have a seizure, Her date bails on her. Dean a firefighter/EMT introduces himself asks if he can help, takes her to his station across the way and watch over her through the seizure. Although embarrassed, they both realize they are attracted to the other, which develops into dating. Things heats up between Dean and her, lots happening, with great romance. Excellent story.

Crash and Adeline's relationship throughout the entire story is so realistic and heart wrenching. Susan Stoker's stories are so unique and amazing, especially with each of her heroines and their disabilities. And we can't forget the men who fall in love with said heroines. They are absolutely unforgettable! The love they have for their women is such a strong bond, that it makes you emotional just reading it. Shelter for Adeline made me laugh, cry and had my emotions all over the place. Definitely couldn't put it down the entire time. Can't wait for more!

The following are my comments and views of the Susan Stoker book 'Shelter for Adeline'. Adeline is a strong yet vulnerable heroine who has epileptic seizures, and her lab Coco, is her service dog who alert’s Adeline when a seizure is coming. Dean "Crash" Christopherson the charismatic attentive hero is a sexy Firefighter, who comes to Adeline’s rescue. Their relationship throughout the entire story is so realistic that it made me laugh, cry and sigh loudly to the very last page. The day to day challenges, a sense of humor and heartfelt scenes gives them just enough time to get to know one another and the love between them is hot, the romance to die for. I fall in love with all of Susan’s characters and her portrayal of her men and women in uniform, law enforcement officers, and first responders, shows her feelings for what they do, and bringing awareness to the challenges they face. Her love of writing is what keeps me coming back to read her books over and over again. I think you will love this book as much as I did. I’m looking forward to reading more from Susan in the coming years. I will be buying a retail copy of this book on release day. ***ARC provided by the author for an honest review***
  • A simply splendid love story

Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Crash encounters a beautiful young woman in distress when he's out to lunch with a friend. Adeline caught his eye...and his heart! That man can plan a great first date! A fun quote: "if I come back down and find out you've taught my dog to guzzle beer, smoke cigars, and whistle at the ladies, I won't be happy." I admire how well they complement each other. Adeline may have a disability, but she's an incredibly strong woman and capable of standing up for her rights when pushed. I love the way he takes time to get to know her - taking gradual steps. She's not being rushed into anything she's not ready for. It is fun to meet all the crew at the fire station, getting a feel for the different personalities. Chief, especially, stands out. He plays an important supporting role in this book. I suspect it won't be too long before he has his own story. The author gives us an excellent view of what it might be like faced with seizures, and what kinds of treatment might be available. This is an altogether splendid love story, with enough dangerous situations to keep me on the edge of my seat until a hero comes to the rescue! Highly recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader's copy of this book.
