Description

I’ve come undone. For years I thought the world looked at my family and saw perfection. I was a busy surgeon and my wife was devoted to our two boys. But her devotion crumbled as her alcoholism took over. The outside world saw all too well what I wanted to deny.
Ten months ago she filed for divorce, packed up and moved away. To where – I don’t know. Nor do I care. But my boys do. And they’re left with me, a man who never learned how to be the dad they deserve.
Just when I’m starting to pick up the pieces, my world is rocked again by the last woman I’d expect. Given her past with my family, she’s a bad idea. But I’m drawn like a moth to a flame. I can’t stay away, even though I know this, too, will eventually crumble around me.

I got so bored after reading first 20 pages. The guy was so depressing and wasn’t passionate about anything. There was a lack of charisma from both characters which negatively affected this read. Since both characters were boring their chemistry was severely absent!

Ah, I have been waiting for Kyle's book for ages! This eldest Lockhart brother has had my interest and attention since meeting him in DEEP DOWN, the first book in the Lockhart Brothers series by author Brenda Rothert, and I am excited to finally be able to read his story. It's taken time and a lot of work, but Dr. Kyle Lockhart has finally found a place of normalcy for himself and his two young sons. Working past the pain of a marriage long gone bad and his wife's desertion, Kyle's not interested in anything but maintaining a safe and loving environment for his boys. Sure, he's lonely sometimes, but taking care of his sons is his main priority, so making time for a woman isn't even really on his radar. Meredith Hobbs knows all too well what it means to be lonely, too. The former fiancée of Kyle's brother Reed, Meredith has been pretty much persona non grata in their small town of Lovely since she left Reed at the altar many years before . But Kyle isn't concerned with the past, and is happy to take Meredith up on her offer to tutor his two sons in her spare time. Soon enough, the friendship between Kyle and Meredith changes into something much more, and leaves both of them feeling like second chances are definitely possible. DRAWN DEEPER was most definitely worth the wait. Who knew that such a passionate man existed beneath the calm cool exterior that Dr. Lockhart projects (I had my suspicions, but, like, whoa, Dr. Kyle!)? One of the things that I like most about Kyle is his ability to look beyond Meredith's past actions and appreciate her for who she has become. And Meredith, who had come across as not so necessarily likable in the past books, is really much stronger than she knows. Finding the love of the right man, and sharing the feeling of having a real family, brought out a whole new strength in her, and it was a pleasure to see her grow more into the current version of herself. Brenda has done a great job of portraying all of the aspects that make Kyle a great dad, doctor, son, and lover, and seeing him and Meredith get their HEA is extremely satisfying. 4.5 'heartwarming but hot second-chance' stars for Kyle and Meredith. I'm looking forward to HIDDEN DEPTH, the next book in the series, because, more Lockhart brothers? Yes, please!

Drawn Deeper is one of those books that the minute it hit my reading device, I was gone for. Which really shouldn’t have surprised me, because I did the EXACT. SAME. THING. with the first two books in the Lockhart Brothers series – Deep Down and In Deep – I devoured every last word and it was HEAVEN. This series is a set in a very small town around a very close-knit family and Brenda Rothert has captured both in a way that is just pitch perfect. As a reader, you are transported to Lovely, Missouri and get to know the heart of this community through its citizens, its secrets and favorite eateries. This one of my favorite elements of not only this series, but in particular, Drawn Deeper. Drawn Deeper is a story about second chances…. redemption and it plays out so perfectly here. Thing about a small town is that it’s memory is very, very long. Meredith Hobbs has events in her past that are her crosses to bear and she does so with an amazing grace and humor. But she is more than the impetuous 21-year old girl that she once was and we get to know the woman that wants the most basic things — to be a part of her community, sharing her time and talents; friends and to find the person with whom she can share her heart. I adored Meredith and she is proof-positive of someone who deserves more than summary judgement. I loved getting to know her – she proved to be the perfect heroine. I have been waiting for Dr. Kyle Lockhart’s story and it was sooooo worth it!! He is everything I was expecting and more. As the oldest of the Lockhart’s, he wears his obligations like a mantel and when his world is up-ended, he wades and muddles through life to find a balance that works for he and his kids. Is it perfect? Oh, hell no. And in those moments we get so see the absolute true measure of his man – the strength of his love for his boys, his devotion to his family and the commitment to his hometown. But it is Meredith that brings the spice into his life in all the best ways. But ultimately, this is a love story between two people who despite the messiness of life or raised eyebrows of their community, belong together. The growth of their relationship was sweet and incredibly sexy with a pent-up energy that when it was unleashed positively vibrated off the page. Grab Drawn Deeper and venture to wonderful Lovely, Missouri. In Dr. Kyle Lockhart and Meredith Hobbs, Brenda Rothert has conjured the perfect tour guides, who’s heart-melting story will keep you wanting more. ENJOY!!! Happy reading!!

Brenda's books are like fine wine. They get better with time. This latest Lockhart brother is a perfect mix of sweet and hot! The things Kyle did in this book are hot, hot, hot. But there is a catch. The woman he wants to do these hot things with is his brother's ex-fiancé. Meredith is a woman trying to take care of her father and find her place in a new town that has labeled her with a scarlet letter after leaving one of the town's favorite sons at the altar. Kyle is a man trying to find balance between being a single dad and a doctor. Faith leads Meredith to offer to tutor Kyle's sons. Both see the wonderful in each other, but both know the path to a happily-ever-after will be rocky at best. Are they willing to fight for what they want? One-click now this book now! '''

I love me some Lockhart brothers. This book is about Kyle, the oldest brother. Did I mention he's a doctor.... A sexy doctor. Anyway it starts off kind of where the last book left off. He and his wife divorce because she was a unfaithful drunk that neglected her children. Anyway Kyle is a single, handsome dad, that works a lot. He has a babysitter for his two boys and then he runs into a old family friend that had a fallout with the Lockhart's. It starts innocent and she volunteers to help tutor his boys but their chemistry is strong. They both feel attracted to each other but there's so much history and bad blood between Meredith and Kyle's family. Things get a little awkward and out of control. Its up to Kyle to take control of this situation and relationship. He needs to go and get what he wants, what he deserves. Read this book, its good and I myself felt good reading a book about a 37 year old man.

Ever feel like you are in a character rut where all the characters are painted with the same brushstroke and bucket of paint? Well, look no further than Drawn Deeper. Brenda Rothert has given us Kyle Lockhart to be that breath of fresh reading. This novel is part of a series that can definitely be read as a standalone, but strongly urge you to read the preceding novels for the character arc of Kyle and Meredith. To be honest, I read Deep Down and almost skipped In Deep. (Yeah, I know stupid girl). But I didn't. And in the vein of honesty, I'm glad I got to know them as secondary characters first. Now onto my enjoyment of this story... First, Meredith? Okay, maybe I was in a bubble. But I thought I was not supposed to like her. I love when authors give me a character I'm not interested in HEA and gives me one. It gives you hope that everyone deserves to be loved. Next and most importantly - Kyle. Go back to the first sentence of the review. Okay now: Heartbroken man, left to pick up the pieces, trampled on emotionally, financially, and physically deprived. You know the character? He holds the grudge on those feelings and is not going to allow anyone to break down those walls. Got the character? Okay now toss him away with yesterday's trash because that is NOT Dr. Lockhart! Kyle is loyal, trusting, open and giving. All the swoon worthiness wrapped up in a tall drink of water. Yes, Meredith and Kyle have some hiccups along the way, but what relationship doesn't. Ms Rothert gives you an enjoyable tale of second chances to get lost in. Now, I have claimed Mason (In Deep) as my book boyfriend. However, as much as I love that smart mouthed man, I LOVED Kyle and Meredith's story even more. Do you really need to read the entire series? No but consider yourself warned you should. If you are a first time reader for Brenda Rothert - start with the Lockhart brothers series book 1 before jumping to this one - you won't be sorry. If you read the previous book, she definitely gives you a story to read over and over again. 5 out of 5 stars.
