Loved it. I hope there is a sequel. What would life be like after such an event?

Not what I was expecting after reading his previous books. Very heavy on deep conversation. Not a lot of action.

I”ve read all of Mr. Fortschen’s John Matherson books and couldn’t wait to read 48 Hours. It did not leave me disappointed! Well written, well researched, and captivating. I read from front to back during a 15 hour power outage from a spring storm that came through our area. I hope our world never comes to something like this, but this book makes you open your eyes to the possibilities our species could face.

I could not wait for this book to come out after reading the one second after trilogy. But this.... this was so disappointing. Way to much boring scientific jargon. To much bouncing around to other characters. Not enough action. Just very poorly done.

Huge fan of the author’s previous books. This one, however, seems rushed, filled with jaded notions of character traits , the characters hollow images of projected American exceptionalism. You’ve got typical ideas that have been so overused (military bad, gov bad), and straight up unbelievable courageousness (people happily letting go) that the book strings you along until the equally baffling and unsatisfying end. Three stars given because, although this book was a literal waste of my time, the author’s other books are compelling and interesting reads that are for those that, like me, wanted to like this book and almost did.
