I really enjoyed reading this. It may be part of a series but this is a complete story with all the questions answered. There were some issues where I had problems figuring out if some of the characters were men or women. One minute it would say he then the next it would say she, while speaking about the same character.

She had keep me in the seat and reading it all from the being to the end! Her brilliant cat and mouse game against the enemy is something out of this world.

Eric Thompson is a very gifted writer. I was hooked before the first chapter was even over. Having now read the entire series, I can tell you this is one of the best space opera series you will ever read. Well worth every minute you spend. You will find yourself begging for more. Jump in, and enjoy!

More action than most novels and very well written.
  • Love the plot and writing but…

Like many of Eric Tompson‘s books, the plot is excellent, the writing style is fantastic, and the battles are epic. But I can’t rate this book as highly as I otherwise would because there is something about it which really bothers me. So far, every queer character in his books has been evil. There haven’t exactly been many, but if it is mentioned that a character is anything other than straight you can assume that they’re a bad guy. On a less serious note, prosthetic eyes are a thing even right now in the 21st-century. I would know, since I have them. No eyepatch required.

I really enjoyed this book as a fun vacation read. I genuinely cared for the characters and the story was entertaining with enough military authenticity without devolving into endless abbreviations and thin bravado. Will definitely read the next book!
