Description

Another quality eBook from Chapel Library. Nineteenth century Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon explains the centrality of the atonement to the Gospel. Excerpt: “The heart of the Gospel is redemption, and the essence of redemption is the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ. They who preach this truth preach the Gospel in whatever else they may be mistaken; but they who preach not the atonement, whatever else they declare, have missed the soul and substance of the divine message.”

I came in reading this book with no expectations. I was supremely surprised at how good Charles Spurgeon is when it comes to the heart of the gospel. This book is easy to read and encouraging with a straight to the point where you stand with Christ. Honestly, I wish more people preach like him.

This book gets to the heart of the matter. God is great. Jesus knew His role and played it out. Jesus is the way to life everlasting. You have to get to heaven by going through Jesus only. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

This is the Heart of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. This man was touched by God to deliver this profound sermon. I now have a greater understanding of what Jesus did for me and how the Father’s heart broke to send His Son to die for us. A MUST read!!

I’ve read myriad Charles Spurgeon quotes through my decades. I’m embarrassed to say this is the first Spurgeon book I’ve ever read, which is a crime having now rectified that state. If you’ve not made time to read any of these ridiculously brief but DEEP writings, I highly suggest this particular piece! Strikes deep with these profound but essential TRUTHS: 1. Yeshua did not simply “take our sin upon Himself.” HE BECAME SIN WHO KNEW NO SIN 2. When we embrace His Sacrifice, we are simply “made righteous.” WE ARE MADE RIGHTEOUSNESS wow The writing is not modern & you will learn a few new words. But it IS worth the meager effort, on an eternal level.
