If you're a mother or even a father don't read this. It will make you way too sad. I thought this would put me in the holiday spirit but it just cost me a sleepless night.

There is nothing better to get in the spirit of the holidays like reading a Richard Paul Evans novel. His latest offering “The Mistletoe Promise” is a delicious treat for the heart. Elise Dutton and Nicholas Derr are two souls with heartwrenching moments in their past who find themselves alone and lonely with the holiday season approaching. Nick, a successful lawyer proposes that they enter a mutually beneficial contract that would allow them to act as a couple for all the upcoming social events on their calendars. Elise is intrigued with the idea. They agree to a “Purely platonic relationship” and each find themselves falling harder for one another as time goes on. A final revelation serves to bring them even closer together and ultimately shows that there is hope and light in forgiveness and letting go. This is one of the best romances I have read in a long time. Not one emotion is left untouched. Richard Paul Evans is masterful at tugging a reader’s heart and keeping them hoping the story never ends. It is perfect literary comfort food. This book should be on every Santa list and is a terrific read to give and share with anyone.
