  • Great story ruined by poor storytelling

I read this series of books as I was out of other things to read and the first eBook was free. The concept and basic foundation is superb... Yet the writing is flawed and of poor quality. The grammatical and conceptual mistakes are appalling enough, but the story telling seems to come from an adolescents mind. Characters are poorly developed, the "romance" is ridiculously oversimplified and dull. "Love at first sight" has never been so predictable and laughable. All sense of climactic storytelling is lost after the first few climactic scenes and expressions are reused over, and over, and over again. It soon leaves you feeling as if the writer's understanding of human nature and personal/social relationships is severely limited, as if from a seemingly pre-adolescent writer with little life experience to draw on other than reading a Nicholas Sparks book or two. Great conceptual story, ruined by poor penmanship.

Not sure what age this story is aimed at. I read it as I was out of stuff to read and had gotten the first ebook free. Was there an editor for this series? So many typos, repetitive phrases, repetitive plots and very little depth to the characters. An editor and a thesaurus would have helped make this a much better series. It seems as though written for a younger audience except for the fact that many of the female characters face being gang raped, raped and/or tortured. There are many "cliff hangers" but how many times can one character face death, know he is going to die and then be saved at the last minute. But if you like stories that are like bubblegum for the mind, keeps it busy for awhile but loses it flavor quickly, then this is the series for you.

This was great but those last few pages. That escalated very quickly. I'm sad it's over and need to earn some more money to pay for the next bundle. Lol! 🎉😍🎊

Once again, Morgan Rice proves to be great at developing a plot and telling the story, and the occasional grammatical error does not detract, but she seems not to be paying attention to her own details in her writing. On at least two occasions, she calls a character by the wrong name. At other times, physical details mysteriously change. For example, first Silesia is in the far west of the westernmost province, then it is in the north. First, the northern bridge over the canyon is an arching rainbow, next it is a swaying rope affair. This story just simply needed a better proof reader. These lapses detract from some otherwise very good writing, and a great story.

While the English nerd in me cringed a few times with some of the typos it was not enough to stop me from being engrossed is wonderfully spun tale. Romance, battles, and magic.. Perfect for a great story in the genre.. Well done!!
