Whenever I read a story by this author, I have learned to expect the unexpected. In this latest story, she doesn’t disappoint. As an unexpected twist occurred, I found myself going back a few pages to see what I missed. This kept me engaged in the story as well as entertained. Great job, Virginia! This was a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat book! Penny and her daughter, Missy, witnessed a bank robbery and Missy was able to identify each of the robbers’ faces. Because of her incriminating testimony, it had placed a target on their backs. While in witness protection, their protecting agent was killed and so Penny ran. Everything she did was out of protection for her daughter. Their running brought them to Texas, where Caleb, chief of police, discovers them. Somehow dangerous men found their location and Caleb made it his job to protect them as best he can. While trying to solve the case, the story takes several unforeseen twists and turns and the author does a great job keeping you guessing till the very end! Clean storyline. Loved the elements of faith incorporated throughout. There is a love story but honestly lots of the story is focused on who is after them and how it all resolves. That being said you admire the growth of Caleb and Penny’s relationship - how their love blossoms through this traumatic event. You are rooting for their love story to come together! I always appreciate when authors write or add in an epilogue to fully conclude their characters when a period of time has passed. Can’t wait for the next installment in the Cowboy Protectors series!
