Description

From USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Jennifer Bernard comes a steamy, single dad, small town romance set in fan-favorite Lost Harbor, Alaska with a free-spirited heroine and a grumpy hero who can't stay away.

Ice cream goddess and perennial life of the party, Trixie Tran lives life large, from her eclectic wardrobe to her offbeat perspective on, well…everything. No one knows her carefully crafted persona evolved after one life-changing summer during her teens, when a need to belong led to falling for Chase Owens, who betrayed her trust. Now, years later, Mr. Wrong has come to her tiny town of Lost Harbor…and he’s not leaving until Trixie gives him what he wants.

With his young daughter in tow, rescue trainer Mac Brindisi is in Alaska to fulfill a short-term contract. Romance isn’t part of the plan. He’s also built a career—literally—out of shutting people out of his life. Despite that fact, he’d have to be dead inside not to notice the sexy siren who owns the local ice cream shop. When some rich jerk from her past sails into town, all his protective instincts are activated…and then some.

Turns out Chase is no ordinary rich jerk. Dealing with him will take all of Mac’s skills…as well as courage Trixie didn’t know she had. Can she afford to put her trust in a man again? Or is Mac just another smitten-in-summer mistake waiting to happen?

This was such an amazing book. Trixie is the h and is a riot. She flaunts her carefree lifestyle and everyone in the town just love and accepts her. I thought Trixie was great and strong. Mac is retired but teaching a water rescue course. He and his daughter, Piper, successfully steal Trixie’s heart. Trixie tries to convince herself that falling for Mac would not last long. Piper is adorable. Trixie owns the only ice cream parlor in town so everyone knows Trixie. This book was romantic and funny. I could not get enough of Trixie and Mac! This is one of my first books by this author and I truly appreciate her.

Do you ever find a character that makes you smile every time you think about them? That's what I've found in Trixie Tran. What an amazing, courageous and unique woman she is. She's the type of woman you want in your corner, who will always have your back and will go to the ends of the earth for you. Can you tell I want to move to Lost Harbor and be best friends with Trixie (and maybe a member of the Lost Harbor Hotties)? Jennifer Bernard takes us back to our favorite community of Lost Harbor, Alaska, where we catch up on old friends and meet a few new ones. New to town, Mac and his daughter Piper, arrive for the summer so Mac can train some community emergency staff for water rescue and he finds himself smack dab in the middle of Trixie's ice cream shop, her family and her latest problem. Funny, heartwarming and steamy, you can't but help falling in love with the story of Trixie and Mac as they find themselves smitten or something similar.

Smitten in Summer is the twelfth (and last for now) book in the incredible Lost Harbor series by Jennifer Bernard, set in a small town that borders the beautiful Alaskan wilderness. Truc Trixie Tran is the life of the party who owns Soul Satisfaction, Lost Harbor’s ice cream shop. Max Brisindi and his daughter Piper are in town for the summer while Max runs water rescue workshops. Max has made a life out of living in the shadows and keeping secrets. When a painful part of Trixie’s past surfaces and threatens, Max is ready to leap into action. Jennifer Bernard’s characters leap warmly off the page, and Lost Harbor takes care of its own, whether native or adopted. Smitten in Summer is full of love and friendship and laughter and comfort, even and especially as Max and Trixie take risks and take action. I also appreciated how gently Ms Bernard handles Trixie’s feelings of otherness, and how she truly comes to see how deeply she is loved and treasured not just by a partner but by her family and community.

If you’ve read any of the other books in the Lost Harbor, Alaska series, you probably know Trixie, the owner of Soul Satisfaction, the ice cream shop. She’s an absolute joy to read about. You’ll be laughing out loud many times, while reading this book. Trixie’s love interest is Mac, a single dad that’s come to town for a job. I love single dad stories, so I knew I had to read this. I wasn’t disappointed. We also learn more about Trixie and her parents. I love how she stays close to them to help out her mom with her dad. When Mac helps Trixie out of a situation with a guy from her long ago past, she’s so thankful. This is lost Harbor’s busiest season, so rentals are scarce. She tells Mac that her parents have a mother-in-law suite that they may rent to him. Piper, Mac’s daughter love it, so they’re moving in. Grab your copy of this amazing book and catch up with some old favorites and fall in love with Mac and Piper. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Another fabulous trip to Lost Harbor. This time we get Trixie Tran’s book and she falls for single dad, Mac Brandisi. Trixie runs the ice cream shop in Lost Harbor and it is there that she meets Mac and his daughter, Piper, while she is spying on a boat in the harbor. When the owner of that boat comes into the ice cream shop looking for her she hides behind the counter and Mac comes to her rescue, even though he had only met her minutes before. That act made Trixie look at Mac in a different light. I loved the start of Trixie and Mac’s relationship, how Mac fell for Trixie and wasn’t afraid of his feelings for her. Also seeing Trixie fall for his daughter, Piper, even though she claims to not like children. This was a great book and Trixie surprised even herself when she had to deal with the owner of the boat and what happened to her in her teen years. She was surprised by her strength in dealing with it and also in the support she got from her parents. This was a wonderful book and I can’t wait for Conor Gault’s book next.
