  • Great Potential, Horribly Executed

The Good 1) The plot doesn’t particularly stand out, but is entertaining enough to keep reading. 2) Unlike most zombie books I’ve read, there is no swearing at all. 3) The violence is described in detail, but not to the point where you’re grossed out. The Mixed 1) There are several cliche characters and decisions in this book, but if you’re just reading this for pleasure, it shouldn’t be bothersome. The Bad 1) This is some of the worst dialogue I’ve read in my life. The author clearly has no experience writing it whatsoever. Every line is something corny or extremely off-topic that nobody would ever say in real life. 2) The laws of physics apparently do not apply when the characters are in danger. For example, a character survives being unconscious in a helicopter after it crashed . . . and had been burning for several minutes! If the flames didn’t kill them, the smoke would’ve! Final Verdict This series really has some great potential. It’s relatively unique, and the zombies themselves are written and described very well. If those two huge problems I mentioned before didn’t exist, I would give it a 4/5. But the dialogue and unrealistic physics hack it to pieces, so I can only give it a 2/5. I don’t know for sure, but this story sounds like the work of a new author who is improving, but not quite adept at writing yet. I believe this is a series, so they may improve as the books come out. If you’re someone looking for your next serious read, don’t choose this, but if you’re looking to kick back with a quick zombie book over the weekend, then this is the one for you.

This book was amazing. I loved this book and it made me want to buy the other books. The book was descriptive, interesting, action-packed, thriller, and a real page-turner.

This book started off fine and I liked the premise, but it quickly went downhill. The dialogue and actions of the characters is just not believable and sometimes eye-rolling. The characters weren't really developed and you don't feel invested in them. This book felt like an alien wrote it and tried to guess what humans would say and do. If you love the zombie genre and can get this free...maybe. Don't pay anything for it though.

There were several things about this book that I liked and several things I didn't. I will start with the bad because I prefer to end on a happy note. The characters, though interesting, were rediculously naive and childish, to an unrealistic and seriously obnoxious degree. Generally people aren't complete idiots, even when sheltered, and few people refuse to see reason completely when faced with obvious death. And the other thing that I really didn't like about the book was the obnoxious and continuous recaps at the beginning of every chapter about the chapter before. It's not a tv show that you haven't seen in a week and might have missed or forgotten, it's a chapter in a book that we JUST read. Ten seconds before. We haven't forgotten. My final critique is the careless writing. Important details in a scene are left out or contradict each other, or forgotten later on. In many instances, the writing sets up scenarios that could have been an interesting conflict, but then nothing comes of it, and the following scenes are far more boring. For instance, Tahoe throws out a bunch of stuff from the car to hide inside. But miraculously none of those things were the vials. An entire scene that might have been quite interesting and make for a more complete feeling book was wasted and forgotten, if it was even realized by the author. That all being said, I thought it was an interesting story line, with overall like able and interesting characters. Honestly, I think this book has a lot of potential, if a little more time and editing had been done. Friends and family and other fresh eyes are a great tool to use to find holes in the picture and other things that we think about but forget to actually put down on the page. We know our characters inside and out, but sometimes we forget to share all of our insights with our readers.

I'm not big on reading and actually haven't been in years. But this is definitely an awesome book that had me hooked an wanting to find out what happened all the way through. If you're a zombie fan, I would definitely 100% suggest reading this book. It's a series I plan on continuing to read until the end!

It is a good book so far but I think in chapter 2 you could've stuck with what was going on in chapter 1 but you skipped 1 year later.

It's a good thing this book was free. The writing is terrible. I love Zombie books, but I could not get into this one. Writing seems rushed and sloppy. Pacing is terrible. I've read sixth grade essay's that were better structured. Don't waste your time.

This series was amazing and epic it was the best books I'll ever read I've read the series twice, I also felt like I was there it the story. I just want to let you know your my favorite author of all time. Things I liked about the book was the romance between Jackie and dean and how most of the girls flirted with dean. Also the part were they had to fight at kingsville for there lives and the action.
