Description

This is the writing of a Blackman growing up in the ghetto, probing the stars above for the answers to the numerous questions of this unique and unusual way of life. Is it supposed to be this way? This is a question that has to be asked daily, hourly, and moment-to-moment when living “In The Hood”. Is it supposed to be this way?

Are the schools in my area supposed to be rundown; are there no books available for us, as well as no teachers that really care to teach us?  Are there really no jobs available or are they just not available to people who look like me? Are the problems being faced by Americans really because of me and the people who look like me?  All of the problems, really?

It’s questions like these that I had as a child in which provoked this writing. I was assured by my Church that at some point things would change, that God would make every thing all right. Most of the community believes devoutly that the issues we were facing in our community would be solved and will be solved soon by waiting, voting and hoping for the best.  Well it hasn’t happened yet and as I have grown up it seems to be getting worse!

Its time now that the inhabitants of the Ghetto stand up and take charge of their situation. Its time now that we Black men take a good long look at our situation here in America as well as the situation of those around the globe.  Its time that we analyze the situation and make plans toward governing our future. Its time now Black man that we think and rethink ourselves back into the past and create a better and brighter future for our people and the world at large.

This is a writing that asks the question is it supposed to be this way?  No, No its not, it doesn’t have to be this way. Lets change it, lets change it now.
