Having just returned from Africa and seeing how wild it is even today, it must have been something to see in years gone by. Capstick and his writing can take you to the Africa of another time. If your a hunter or adventurer, you owe it to yourself to read this book.

A very well written book about African game that is at times outright hysterical, paints vivid pictures of the African bush, and grabs at your heart

I've always loved reading this book since I was a child when my father helped my discover this wonderful story. He has a prized first edition of this book, and many other books with similar stories like the Maneaters of Tsavo. if you like the movie the Ghost and the Darkness you WILL probably love this book, it's a great read, it's especially helpful if you have basic understanding of guns bc the author mentions many types of weapons and ammunition he used. But ever since the first my dad lent me this book when I was like 10 I have probably read it 15 times. Very suspenseful stories about the African wildlife and the dangerous truly unbelievable encounters the author managed to survive.
  • Simply the best.
