Description

In this wickedly funny and irreverent memoir, Chelsea Lately writer and comedian Sarah Colonna opens up about love, life, and pursuing her dreams . . . and then screwing it all up.

Sarah believes we all struggle to grow up. Sometimes we want to have fun, not take things too seriously, and have that fourth margarita. Other times we would like to get married, stay in, order Chinese food, and have a responsible, secure life.

From her formative years in small-town Arkansas to a later career of dates, drinks, and questionable day jobs, Colonna attempts to reconcile her responsible side with her fun-loving side. Sometimes this pans out, and sometimes she finds herself in Mexico handing out her phone number to anyone who calls her pretty. She moves to Los Angeles to pursue acting, but for years is forced to hone her bartending skills; she wants a serious boyfriend, but won’t give up nights at the bar with her friends. She tries to behave like an adult, but can’t seem to stop acting like a frat boy. In the end, she discovers that there doesn’t have to be just one or the other. And if there’s one thing Colonna has learned from her many missteps, it’s that hindsight is always 100 proof.

Includes a Foreword by Chelsea Handler

Thank you Sarah for your humor and for sharing parts of your life with us. I found comfort in knowing that someone I respect and also in their 30's sharing similar experiences that I myself have lived. I really enjoyed your story and hope your on the new show on Netflixs with Chelsea.

No no no no!!!!!!!! Bad. Really bad. I bought this book because I had already enjoyed all of the Chelsea Handler books and thought this might be similar, I assumed from briefly reading the cover that Chelsea had written some too. I was disappointed to find that the foreword was the only part by Chelsea, and the rest of the book is literally a laundry list of failed relationships. Nothing about them was funny. It was like listening to an annoying friend rattle on about what went wrong. Ugh. Hated it. I'm sure Sarah is a nice person and I think she is actually really funny on Chelsea Lately, but she should really steer clear of writing anything else in the future.

Sarah is my favorite writer on the show and I can definitely hear her voice while reading this book. These stories are great but her comedic voice makes them so much better! I would definitely recommend this book, it had me laughing every chapter!

I loved it! I'm a big fan of Chelsea Lately (tv show) and Chelsea Handler. I've read all 4 of Chelsea's books and learned through the show that she had been friends with Sarah Colonna for sometime. I figured they had they same sense of humor plus I enjoyed watching Sarah on the round table so I should give it a go. I'm glad I did and now I love Sarah even more. Forever a fan :)

Very funny book, and shows just how NW Arkansas is a little different than California, but many of us here have made it there. Keep writing and keep on Standin'' Up!
  • An entertaining escape
