Doesn't spoil the book to follow, just whets the appetite.
This could serve as the book you give people when they ask why you're a Koontz fan. It's short enough not to intimidate, but is a complete work, not an abbreviated prequel. It has all of the literary hallmarks of a typically great Koontz story-attention to detail, imagery so well written as to make the book read like a movie, the wonderful characters.
If you're on the fence about this, go ahead and buy it. You know you want to!
