This was a wonderful book to read if you enjoyed the game. Even though some areas were changed for the game it still gave it more meaning and answers some questions. I hated Loghain in Origins, but after this book I had a different feeling about him. The author gave a wonderful backstory to Maric and Loghain's friendship. His writing kept me reading and I never found myself bored and finished this book asap. I chose the audiobook and was happily impressed with the readers abilities. He did a wonderful job. I cant say enough good about it and I started playing the game again all over as I wait impatiently for DA3.

As a big fan of the Dragon Age video games, I was hopeful this book would do the franchise favorably. It is excellent. It is a prequel, the story of the generation before the characters in the video game. I highly recommend and have already purchased book 2.

The Stolen Throne could be a great book had it not chosen to end the way it did, let it be said it's an absolute anti-climax that actually borders boredom. Also, many things in the book build up to nothing, from battles that never get to be described at all tothe promissing joining with the infamous Legion of the Dead which gets almost forgotten by the author after the first moments with such brave dwarves. Last but not least, it seems like the author is making a point of showing certain events as if to say "cool isn't it? You'll be able to do that in the game!!!" It's a decent book, but that's all, don't expect it to be a book that can be taken seriously like the Mass Effect ones (to quote something else that has spawned from a game), this is more like a side story to quench the thirst of fans.
