Good but on the subject there are better books, The Fall of Giants for example, is to me more cohesive and faster developing story.

I thought it was every bit as good as his contemporary detective fiction.

A wonderful story from so many perspectives! I used it in the gym everyday and the time flew by....lost track of my exercise time because I was so captivated by the book. Will definitely read other works by the author.

Typically well conceived and written book by Lehane. A departure from his other works, but written like few others can write. One more reason to read everything he writes.

I've read Mystic River, Shutter island and I was looking forward to reading another book by Lehane. The book is written in first person and the vocabulary was totally out of character for the two main characters in the book. The writing reminded me of an eighth grade student who was learning to use a thesaurus for the first time. The plot is weak and predictable. It's a stretch to connect the two stories. I was totally disappointed.
