the story has all the Jack Ryan characters in their prime, but the most intriguing aspect of the book is the Soviet main character, the setting is the cold war period of the 80s, breathtaking excitement, intrigue, plot twists and turns, and a remarkable insight on warriors, spies, bureaucrats, ideologies, and love. Tom Clancy books tell a great story.

Better than Red October

A very good read. I was never bored because there was always something new happening. The characters were realistic and their roles were very well developed. Fun to read.

One of Clancy's best spy thrillers. Set at the height of the Cold War with the tension and suspense to match... Even though I know what's going to happen, I enjoy this book immensely for its immersive prose, just like if you were there. A classic...

But a great read. Great suspense and a glimpse into the world of spies in the cold war.
