Description

"London’s characters leap off the page... It’s a delightful start to a series that promises to be good fun."—Publishers Weekly

"This is the romcom Carrie Bradshaw would have written if she were a dog person, and I'm obsessed!"—Teri Wilson, USA Today bestselling author of A Spot of Trouble

How do you start over when the biggest mistake of your life has more than one million views?

Forget diamonds—the internet is forever. Social media consultant Isla Thompson learned that lesson the hard way when she went viral for all the wrong reasons. A month later, Isla is still having nightmares about the moment she ruined a young starlet’s career and made herself the most unemployable influencer in Manhattan. But she doesn’t have the luxury of hiding until she’s no longer Instagram poison. Not when her fourteen-year-old sister, Dani, needs Isla to keep a roof over their heads. So, she takes the first job she can get: caring for Camilla, a glossy-maned, foul-tempered hellhound.

After a week of ferrying Camilla from playdates to pet psychics, Isla starts to suspect that the dachshund’s bark is worse than her bite—just like her owner, Theo Garrison. Isla has spent her career working to make people likable and here’s Theo—happy to hide behind his reputation as a brutish recluse. But Theo isn’t a brute—he’s sweet and funny, and Isla should not see him as anything but the man who signs her paychecks. Because loving Theo would mean retreating to his world of secluded luxury, and Isla needs to show Dani that no matter the risk, dreams are always worth chasing.

  • Adorable romance

The Dachshund Wears Prada by Stefanie London is the first book in her Paws in the City series. This adorable romance has a high maintenance and delightful dachshund named Carmen that steals the show. Isla Thompson just suffered a career-ending blow when a video goes viral of her interview with a Disney princess. Isla has been caring for her younger sister, Dani for the past several years, and built her influencer business up from nothing. But after the viral interview, she doesn’t know how she’ll be able to support herself and her sister, as nobody will hire her after that video. Theo Garrison just lost his grandmother, his only family, and has inherited her misbehaving dachshund named Carmen. Exasperated with Carmen’s shenanigans, he takes the dog out for a walk in the park where he runs into Isla and Dani. Carmen takes an instant liking to both women and Theo is amazed that the dog is so calm with them. He offers Isla a job as a dog sitter for Carmen. Will Isla be able to tame Carmen and Theo? This is a cute and charming, but predictable story. Carmen makes the story a bit more interesting with all her high-end spa treatments and photo shoots. The romance between Theo and Isla was good and a bit steamy. I loved the relationship between Isla and her sister, Dani. They have a horrible mother, so they depend on each other very much, and I enjoyed watching them figure out how to add a romance to their dynamic. I also enjoyed the Theo and Carmen relationship. They were both grieving their grandmother, and both were acting out in their own ways to keep their broken hearts from breaking any more. I recommend The Dachshund Wears Prada to anyone who enjoys a good romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A thoroughly delightful book! Ilsa has a booming career as a social media consultant, when one viral mistake gets her fired and makes her unemployable. She needs to support her younger sister, so she takes a job with Theo Garrison as his dog sitter. Theo comes from the New York society elite. His father owned a publishing company and his mother was a famous actress. When his parents died evading the paparazzi, he closed himself off to the world. The dachshund in question was left to him by his grandmother in her will, and had already been through 10 pet sitters prior to Ilsa. This is a nice grumpy guy, sunshiny girl romance. All of the characters are likable and the journey to their happily ever after was a joy to read. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

This was a fun romance. I loved the romance between Theo(a total grump) and Isla(a happy, upbeat girl). Theo thought he was enjoying being by himself and letting no one into his life he didn’t realize what he was missing until Isla showed up. Even though he hired her to walk Camilla, his grandmother’s beloved dachshund, and basically leave him alone that just wasn’t in Isla’s nature. Watching Theo slowly open up to Isla was wonderful and it also made Isla want something more than just being guardian of her younger sister. And I must admit that Camilla is a fabulous, mischievous, holy terror of a dog and I loved it. I loved Theo and Isla together because you could tell they just worked and brought out happiness in each other, something Theo definitely needed in his life.

Loved this newest book by Stefanie London. Full of doggy fun and people drama. I admit to being truly angry in a couple of places, but all worked out in the end, of course with the requisite HEA. This has it all, humor, drama, romance and steam. Definite add to your TBR list.
