This was a good story but I felt it glossed over some of the military details that should have been there given the details of the hero’s history.

Wow, what a great book. A could not put it down. So much going on, so much involvement with the dogs, training, setting up perfect matches and for all that needed help, it was there. It really opened my eyes. The main characters were go good. Really an eye opener. Thank you so much.

I got this book because I thought saving Noah was decent and the premise of a guarded POW opening up his heart sounded like something I would enjoy. The first issue I had with this book was the prevalence of the dogs. Every piece of dialogue somehow wrapped back to these dogs for absolutely no reason. Even in the steamy parts (after she has an “organism”. Yes, very unfortunate typo). Why do they need to be mentioned there!?! Or how she has them trained to close the door to set the mood. Very unnecessary. Also Paisley sounds increasingly insufferable about her relationship to the dogs as the book progresses. She insists on bringing the dogs to places when people ask her not to because they are her “family” and forces her mom to eat only at dog friendly restaurants. I understand training dogs is her profession but Paisley cannot read the room. At all. My next issue is with her brother’s girlfriend Barbie. The author is trying incredibly hard to make her the villain of this story but I found myself rooting for her because Paisley was so difficult to like. Paisley is incredibly rude to Barbie because she is blonde and Paisley believes her to be superficial. So much so that her first question to Barbie is if that’s her stripper name. No wonder Barbie is uncomfortable with her. I really disliked how it felt like Paisley was putting down other women solely because of their appearances. Paisleys dog also tries to attack Barbie at a family meal and Paisley refuses to remove the dog from the dinner table and refers to Barbie as the “mutt”. Here we go again with the dogs… I expected this to be a slow burn because it mentions that Easton doesn’t like to be touched. However, there is one incident that happens with Paisley and he’s suddenly completely okay with her touching her anywhere. It felt a little too easy, even for a romance novel. My final gripe is with the tattoo reveal. It makes no sense for Easton to get a tattoo for his neighbors best friend’s sister that he had a crush on but never acted upon. It felt a little creepy. And of course it had to be Paisley and colorful just like her. Unsure if a dog tattoo would be better or worse. I would not recommend this book. I think Kaci Rose can write well but this is not her finest work.

I wonder if the author did any research about therapy and service dogs or how they should behave in a medical facility because this book wasn’t it. The name Leeland is dumb and so was naming his girlfriend Barbie. She sounded like an awful person but Paisley asked her if that was her stripper name when they first met so she’s not innocent either

Wow - being the wife of a military man, this story really resonates with me. This needs to be read by wives, widows, family and friends of military personnel. Not all scars are visable but they run just as deep. Well written and heartbreakingly warm. Thank you.

Not the type of book I usually read, I am more a romcom reader. But I try to read something different every now and then. Not a fan of descriptive sex scenes or the words that many authors choose to use. This wasn’t a bad story, and it was true to life of what our military has suffered through the years during war time. It did have an HEA so there was that.

I appreciate Kaci writing stories about real soldiers and what some of them go through after their service is over and need to deal with scars, memories and thoughts that can prevent happiness. We are all so busy in our own lives that we do forget the survivors of true trauma. Pray and give help to the supporters for a healthy life for our soldiers.
