I seriously loved this book. It really shined a light on the other characters in the series stories. I don’t think filler is necessarily a bad thing. This book answers a lot of questions and I feel explains why certain characters acted how they did.

The worst in the series, reading this book was hard

I actually loved this book. It was such a good way to bring in the others stories while still getting all the Rhys and Feyre love. You got to look to see how things went after the war and the PTSD they went through. But family through it all. Showed how much Rhys and Feyre love each other.
  • Bit disappointing

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but it definitely wasn’t this. Should’ve read the reviews, because the one that said it was a filler book was spot on. There’s no real story here, just a bit of how everyone ended up after the war. Should’ve just been apart of book number 3 honestly. Also should only cost $5 since it’s a third of what the last book was.

It’s filler. So hard to finish reading and everything. You can skip it without missing much.

Just bear with me: Seeing the Dream Court and company try to settle back into their lives and also adjust to a new reality was interesting. I actually rather liked it. Instead of always impending doom and war and death and “will we make it through the day” being the theme of every book I rather like the realness of seeing the character adjust and try to go back to some normalcy. It’s rather normal. Seeing each of their relationships with each other and how they enjoy solstice and their traditions was a breath of fresh air. Although I enjoyed the book, there was some things that I just couldn’t shrug off after the last book. Feyra I get she’s young but come on she doesn’t like busy-bodies or when people have any minor opinion when it comes to her, her sisters or relationships and her choices. So I don’t see how it’s fair for her to have an opinion, prod and be bratty about others lives and their choices. I noticed it in ACOMAF how she hated anyone voicing their thoughts on her choices because they wouldn’t know how she felt or what she’s going through and as her journey has continued her little habit hasn’t gone away as a curious meddler Rhys I rather liked seeing him be excited for solstice. Almost wanting to postpone everything pending with courts and peace until after solstice. He wanted everyone to spend solstice together and I wished we got got to see more of that and what his traditions were for solstice. Cassian I loved seeing a little more about Cassian and what little we got into his background. I actually would have wanted some more about that. I love that he’s such a tough guy but has such a golden heart and a precious soul and I would have enjoyed to see that explored more. Azriel The elusive and mysterious shadow singer barely made an appearance. And that was disappointing☹️ I rather enjoyed how more and more ‘out of his shell’ and relaxed he was getting with the new additions to their family. And that we got to see him more too in ACOWAR, but I was sad to see he was pushed to the background a little and hardly got much out of him. Morrigan Mor mentioning her struggles and fears was different. We knew she had a terrible (to put it lightly) relationship with her father but getting a little more in depth with that and what she remembers of Eris was a good different. I would have hoped that maybe that would have been addressed separately and more at depth but we just got a vague glimpse which made it a bit out of place in the book. Amren I love amren and how can I get more of her and her sass? That’s what I was hoping for. More amren sass and Varian. Since she’s Rhys & Feyra’s second, should we not be seeing how she runs the city/court and adjusting to a high-lady? What I’ve noticed in regards to the different relationships: Elaine & Lucien The Archeron headstrong gene is definitely coming out in Elaine. She might have the ‘smaller personality’ of the Archeron sisters but she’s still has it. She’s starting adapt and adjust to her new life, the way she treats Lucien though hurts. I get that she maybe doesn’t like Lucien but she doesn’t have to be a brat about it. She’s pretty vocal about her feelings when she wants to be, it’s not Lucien’s fault that they are mates. Maybe it wasn’t the best moment to bring it up but come on it’s not like he’s forcing it on her. He’s been wanting to get her to know her for some time and she acts like that is giving him “affection” or doing him a favor. She better not string Az along either if that’s what they’re hinting at. Azriel deserves better. Nesta & Cassian I didn’t actually understand what is going on with Nesta. I was expecting her to recede into the shell of who she was after everything that happened with the King, with Cassian and Elaine during the war. My only explanation is that maybe the way she slaughtered the king or possibly losing Cassian scared her. And she’s having trouble adjusting to those realities. I can see she’s having PTSD but she’s pretty destructive about it. I can totally understand Cassian’s frustration with wanting to help, wanting to give her her space but also wanting to be affectionate. I wish she would have accepted his gift too Feyra & Rhys Is it a thing where all mc hates their bday? Their gifts and love still cute, don’t get me wrong, but there was moments that felt like it was redone… like were recycling past scenes. Feyra & Lucien What the heck is going on. They were just about mending their relationship when he went to look for the curse queen on their behalf, came back and Feyra and Eleane even invited him to Velaris and then idk what happened that Feyra snaps at Lucien just for having other friends and for staying with Jurian. I would be happy for Lucien to have made friends regardless of feeling out of place after losing his home twice. Just because Feyra has found her home doesn’t mean that’s his home. I get wanting him to stick around but with that attitude Feyra, you’re just treating him the way Tamlin treated him and managing to push him away. Tamlin & Rhys It seems to me that the soft spot they each had for each other when they were younger is still there, a flicker of it but neither one of them seems to want to budge or make the the first move to mend. What Tamlin did to Rhys was a betrayal after all. And Rhys’ right, Tamlin never apologized for it. So Tamlin asking if he would ever forgive him pulled a little on that string of care Rhys had for Tamlin when they were younger. At the moment Tamlin doesn’t seem to be in the right headspace to even care for himself, let alone apologize, and Rhys sees it. (No I’m not apologizing or excusing any of his behavior.) Nudging him to eat and just ‘checking in on him’ is actually very sweet of Rhys. I hope that’s what it is and not because they need him in the future. I also think he felt guilty after the first ‘meeting’ that Lucien pointed out, didn’t go well.

Reads like a holiday special thrown into the middle of the series. Okay to skip and you’d still be on track with the rest of the series
  • Boring, slow, not the same

I adore this series - but this book? Felt like I was reading a school assigned novel that had no purpose and was dang near impossible to get through.
