Description

Change is hard in a small Southern town, especially when it brings a side of murder.

All Harvey Beckett wants to do is help the residents of St. Marin's find the perfect book for that moment, snuggle with her hound dog Mayhem, and be ignored by her cat Aslan. But when the small, waterside town's newest resident discovers the body of the community's persnickety reporter in her bookshop storeroom just before her grand opening, Harvey can't help trying to solve the crime, even when it might cost her business and her life. The more questions Harvey asks, the more secrets she uncovers.

Will Harvey and her friends be able to solve the murder of the town reporter without her becoming a victim herself?

This was a nice book. It wasn’t too much focused on the mystery that happened though
  • HUMOROUS

I found this one to be a clean, Cozy Murder Mystery that’s easy reading but somewhat predictable… It’s a good distraction from the crime thrillers that I typically read.

A quick & satisfying read for all of you cozy mystery fans out there, but not in any way superficial! The author deals fairly with the difficult subject of our nation’s deplorable racial history while remaining an enjoyable read!!

Another overly plump heroine who seems to be always thinking of food, eating, planning what to eat. if this at least a biracial author I will ignore the condescending. i like black people pandering. if not just show it in person and stop strutting the probably well intentioned white people talk. it is insulting. we are not in need of your "I will teach everybody to be equal and get along" blather. we are not children needing your praise.
  • Among the best I’ve read in 2022.

Not only is this a wonderful cozy mystery, but exhibits character development, and wonderful bits of factoid information that fit right into the progress of the novel.
  • Not believable

Plot is good, however the town is too good to be true. Most small towns/ neighborhoods view newcomers from so far away ( cross country) with suspicion, especially those from large, liberal cities. Too friendly, too kind, too welcoming. The struggles of opening a new business are too easily overcome, and the numbers of visitors to the store are quite exaggerated. Day Lili
