Don’t buy it. I gave it 8 chapters and couldn’t continue. Not worth it.

I struggled buying into either of the main characters. I felt like I was reading about naive, overly religious, prudish, immature teenagers. Even their names were so overtly juvenile. I’m all for liking yourself for who you are and self-love and opposites attract troupes - but this one did not work. It made no sense why Teddy was drawn to Ruthie and her OCD read flat and not like what it is like to truly have OCD. I’m not really sure what this story even was, it wasn’t funny enough to be a rom-com and not steamy enough to be sexy and not real enough to be realistic fiction. I did really like Aggie and Renata but it was so ridiculous that it didn’t occur to Ruthie that they were in fact lovers, which even the reader could spot early on so it just made Ruthie even more unlikeable and unbelievable.

This was just beautiful. Took a bit to lure me in, but once it did, I was hooked. As cheesy as it is wonderful, this is a burn so slow it hurts. Really enjoyed how hard these characters had to work to not only find the best in themselves, but also realize that they were worthy of each other. Renata and Aggie were my favorite part of this book, I absolutely loved their story. Ruthie’s inner monologue made me laugh out loud more than once, and the ending, although a bit too syrupy sweet, was endearing all the same.

I felt like every 100 pages I was waiting for the book to start and it never did. It was okay but It just felt so dragged out and like the beginning of the book was the last 20 pages. I don’t know just my opinion. I love this author’s work, this book just wasn’t for me.

I didn’t think I would love it as much as I love the hating game but I did! I feel like Sally Thorne has grown a lot since then because this story is more deep. The characters have to go through some growth and overcome hard things... it kind of breaks your heart even once you finally learn more about it farther into the book. I loved Teddy, he’s such an interesting character that is hard to predict what he’s going to say next. I’m crossing my fingers that they make this story into a movie too, I haven’t seen another one quite like this story and it would be such a great one!
