Long time fan of the series. Loved the original series, loved the prequels, sequels were okay... but oof. Whatever this is, like, the sequel to the sequel, wasn’t too great. To start, the beginning of the book was relatively confusing, and there was a large gap that I feel needed to be filled between the last book and now. The story line was drawn out and didn’t intrigue me like the others did. It just doesn’t feel like a Rae Kerrigan book. And the ending was ridiculously preposterous. SPOILER ALERT: There was no rhyme or reason on why Kraigen is in the past. Honestly I thought it would be Simon, but Kraigen? Nah, doesn’t feel right to me. Overall, I just feel like this series is unnecessary and is a milk for money. If I were the author, I wouldn’t have ever even wrote the sequels or this book series, but rather replaced it with the story of the gangs children. This would have been much more intriguing as opposed to accidentally time traveling, betting on horse races, fighting big dudes on 400 year old steroids, and becoming part of an Argentinian caravan. The story line seemed weak and willy nilly, and I found it hard to believe that this story needs more. If I could, I would want to see Rae’s daughter grow up, but I’m not willing to drop another 15$ to find that out. I think I will just forget I read this book, or pretend that it was simply not canon. Sorry for the lengthy review but hopefully i Dave someone from falling down a pit trap of spending money on weak plot. Oh, and respect to the author too, I’ve left 5 star ratings on literally all other books. Favorite book series, but won’t be reading this part... or Gabriel either, but that’s just a personal thing.
