I prefer the book.

The only downside I find in this series is that I can't find any trace of a solid paper copy of the books. Other than that, I personally had a lot of issues with how the anime is. There just isn't the spice of adversity in the show in my opinion.
The Light Novel does a much better job of painting the picture and also has quite a bit more explanation to events, thus painting a clearer picture of events through written words than the anime can with both voice acting and visuals.
I did not however know that the Web Novel and Light Novels were two different animals, but while it may be old fashioned, I prefer to own a book instead of checking one out.
Overall, if like me you felt the anime just didn't have much in way of explanation or got really dumb with how OP Touya ends up becoming (at time of writing this review there are 11 episodes currently), this is definitely a better way of getting the story and I recommend this one at least for how it just flows better. Feel free to take it with a grain of salt if you wish, but it seems like 1 chapter of the LNs is to 1 episode of the anime, and the LNs are currently 4 books (with a 5th to come in October if I recall), so you'll get more story sooner here than with the anime if the show ends the season soon.
