Description

Miss Amelia Stalwood may live in London at her absent guardian's townhouse, but she's never actually met any nobility, and instead of aristocrats, her closest friends are servants. Quite by happenstance, she's introduced to the Hawthorne family and their close family friend, Anthony, the reformed Marquis of Raebourne . They welcome her into their world, but just as she's beginning to gain some confidence and even suspect she may have caught Anthony's eye, she's blindsided by an unexpected twist in her situation accompanied by nasty rumors. Will she lose her reputation when the world that has only just accepted her turns its back on her, or will she rest in the support of the friends who've become like family and the man who's shared his faith and captured her heart?

A Lady of Esteem is an e-only novella that gives an exciting introduction to Kristi Ann Hunter's new Regency romance series about the aristocratic Hawthorne family! Includes an extended excerpt of Kristi's debut full-length novel, A Noble Masquerade.

Regency is my favorite genre. Kristi Ann is my favorite modern author. (Marion Chesney my favorite deceased one.) I really appreciate the Christian message that she wraps into superbly compelling stories. There is a great fraud, being perpetrated by women, Regency authors that sex with a difficult man will lead to love. It is terrible. It is literally a Godsend to have an author like Kristi Ann. This is definitely a calling or mission. My favorite books of hers are the Hawthorne series, Winning the Gentleman, and Vying for the Viscount. I really would like to read a story about Aaron’s half brother in which the author further explore healing for both brothers. My favorite stories are the ones that have characters from prior books involved in the plot and growing in depth. Please also share tips on your writing process. We need more good authors out there. Thank you!

Read it in one night! A pleasant, Christian romance book.

The characters are amusing and real, her portrayal of society at large quite accurate. Our value has to be found in the Savior and these characters demonstrate that well.
  • Very religious

It’s a cute enough story but it’s very Christian, which is fine if that’s your thing, it’s just not my cup of tea and none of the other reviews mention it.

I came across this wonderful, heart warming story just by chance. Being a senior on a limited income I constantly search out books in the free Regency Romance section. I fell in love with all of the characters, above and below stairs. I lost track of “just reading” and became engrossed in the lives of each as though I was family. I can’t wait till I can get online and order the next installment in this series. I read many books (almost a dozen a week) and I applaud you for telling a compelling story, without all the trappings of rakes and their conquests some authors feel compelled to write about. Honestly I laughed and cried with each swipe of the page. I can’t wait to get back to learn where you take Georgiana and Miranda and all the rest of friends and family. Warmest regards, RJB from Brookings, Oregon.

The characters in this story did not feel well developed. Everything seemed very superficial, not much depth to the story. The best part of this book was the idea of treating others with respect, regardless of their station in life.
  • A delightful historical romance novella!

This wonderful story introduces us to a new writer and her first series of books. I love her style of writing and found that she has a wonderful knack for inserting very humorous situations throughout the story. The development of the main characters is fantastic. I fell in love with Amelia Stalwood from very early on. We are given a glimpse of what her childhood was like in the prologue. It made me feel like wrapping my arms around her and to help her to feel loved. I then found that she hadn’t let it make her mean in any way. She cares about others and that shines through with everyone she meets. Anthony Pendleton is carrying memories of what he used to be like and he expects everyone to still be judging him by his past mistakes. That includes people that didn’t even know him before he changed. I enjoyed seeing his journey as he dealt with this. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series. I think I have found another favorite author.
