Description

"Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'."

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter eBooks never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new readers.

Reviews

  • Parts of the book are missing.

The book is great of course and this is probably the fifth platform on which I’ve bought it. But this app cuts out part of the book. I don’t know if adding the pictures took out some of the text, but there are parts of the bill that are simply missing. Very annoying.

Dear Doggy_Girl0003 why did you just spoil the series for everyone else? You basically told us what happened in the entire book which I found frustrating give people time to read these books they don’t need to know what happens to Dumbledore or anyone else It’s not necessarily fair to the rest of the people who read these books and especially to leave that review on the first book when people are just getting started that’s basically not letting people want to read more sure because there are some parts that you left out, but you included a major spoiler.
  • It was ok 😐

It was kinda boring with the troll at the beginning but when they (Hermione, Ron and Harry) go inside the door to the 3 headed dog I felt like the action was finally starting and that made me continue reading the series. So overall the first book was kinda meh🫤 but the rest of the books are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. P.S my favorite character in all the books (except the last) is/was Dumbledore!!!

  • I wasn’t allowed to read Harry Potter as a child

Yup. You read that right. I wasn’t allowed to read the series as a kid, haha. I tried once, and my mother shut it down, so to speak, but not for religious reasons like most people I’ve met who weren’t allowed to read them as kids either. So, I went 22 years without having watched the movies or read the books at all until my partner convinced me to watch the movies, which in turn made me buy and read the series. I love them, and they’ve easily made it into the top 5 favorite books (and book series) I’ve ever read.

It!s kind of hard to just now start reading HP, but this book is honestly great. Admittedly it can be a bit slow and it definitely takes it time to get Harry to Hogwarts, but this book is fun. I think Hermione could’ve been portrayed better, but I still thought she was fine. Hoping to get more HP books in the future, HP is the best thing, right next to my favorite YA series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. My OC Name:Rohan Nightshade, male. Looks:Long, black hair, hazel eyes, olive colored skin Personality:Smart, sarcastic, a bit wimpy. House:Ravenclaw! 🦅🦅 Year:3rd year Siblings:Zayvi (first year) and Jay (also first year) Friends: Ron, Harry, Hermione, Luna, Neville BSF:Decorian Jack (also a Ravenclaw, sarcastic, funny, a little dumb) Pet:Her name is Chocolate (dark brown owl, pretty fast) Crush:I don’t have one. So yeah, great book, I’m so excited to read more of these! 🌙🦅🪄Rohan the Ravenclaw🪄🦅🌙

I started reading the series in 4th grade b/c my siblings really wanted me to. I got to the fifth book (Order of the Phoenix) and quit reading. Not b/c it’s bad (look at my title 🙄) but b/c I got bored. Then this week (last week of Christmas break 😭) me and my brother started watching the movies. I’d only ever seen Chamber of Secrets so I agreed to watch it with him. This is definitely one of my favorite books of the series. My OC!! Name: Jade Murphy House: Slytherin! (I’m actually a Gryffindor but Slytherin’s just built different) Looks: long light brown hair with olive skin and jade-colored eyes (hence her name) has a few freckles on her face but that’s all Pet: a black cat with green eyes and silky fur, his name is Lucky Siblings: Lawrence (5th year), Owen (4th year) and Sawyer (is only nine, a she) Year: 1st year Crush: DRACO MALFOY!!! Naw I’m kidding. It’s his grandson Mandrake Malfoy (or Drake). They actually hate each other in the beginning. Their third year is when they start talking. Draco’s looks in this movie: 3/10 (his hair will scar me for life) 💚🐍🪄Jade the Slytherin🪄🐍🖤

I love this park. It is literally my childhood and I would really want to be a student at Hogwarts but it kind of felt backstabbing because Professor quarrel was working with Voldemort and that’s all really hurtful and backstabbing. kind of felt like this song traitor. From Olivia Rodrigo, because he betrayed Harry, and I know he will never ever feel sorry for the damage he did
  • Why is this book “so bad” to people?

    By Arnold ooks
I have asked many of my friends about if they read the HP series and their replies are usually 1) “yeah, but I didn’t like the first one” or 2) “the first book was really boring so I didn’t read the rest”. And I’ll be honest, I almost didn’t read the series because of the first book. But why do so many people feel this way. This is the first book of the HP series, an original idea that had to stand alone because it had no books before it. Therefore, it has to have a lot of world building. Typically, the first couple of books need heavy world building, and many people, myself included, find the world building boring in an adventure/fantasy book. Also is you look at the books after this one, the writing is great, but the rest have writing at a different level, showing Rowling’s growth as an author. There is also the reason that some people might not like this genre or concept. So my answer is most likely that people find the world building boring and slow compared to the detailed and fast paced adventures of the books to follow.
