Dull, repetitious treatment of an important topic. Mostly a summary of court transcripts.

As an assault survivor I appreciated the author's thoughtful, thorough research and care for this subject matter. It is a delicate topic that I think he takes on with great care. Informative read for anyone interested in a system that continues to fail victims of assault and rape.

Using Missoula as a small window into a larger cultural issue, Krakauer does a thorough and thoughtful job looking into how rape is looked at in America and how much more difficult we make it for victims of sexual assault. Not an easy read but a very valuable one.
  • Same story, over and over

I'm a fan of Jon K, but this one is a dud. It's the same story, over and over again, without a point, or a solution, or even a hint of emotion. Pick any chapter, read it, and you have the whole book.

I was really hoping to find something interesting about this book . I am tired of Jon Krakeuer and his tendency to not get to the point in story.

I was looking forward to reading the author's treatment of a very important subject, but ended up very disappointed by a long-winded text containing lots of repetition and extended adaptations from court transcripts. Not unsurprisingly his position on the subject was clear from the beginning, which further added to the repetitious nature of the text.
