I really liked this book. I think it was much better than the first one. I love it when the heroine has spine. She may have found it a little late but she found it. I loved the characters and can’t wait to read more.
  • So much for "slow burn"

Not my favorite Maya Banks novel and not something I'd read again. The characters were a little over dramatized in their romance -- every moment was a high drama moment. Ari was a bit of a shallow character; weak, morally impeccable, and enormously emotional. I enjoy a good beefy save-the-day hero, but I like the heroine to have a bit of a backbone. And to her credit, Ari does toughen up a bit at the very end, but really, the character development wasn't very believable and the romance sort of just was a given.

Arial Rochester's life has never been normal. She is Telekinetic. When trouble strikes and her parents are kidnapped, she does exactly what her father told her to do. She runs to Caleb and Beau Devereaux, at Devereaux Security. It was Beau who was at the office when she arrived and it was Beau who was beside her throughout this mysterious adventure. When the end arrives, and things are flying and exploding, who will still be standing? Fantastic, fast paced thriller! Just when you relax and think things have calmed down, BAM! Ari starts out as this naive little school teacher. Then she has this amazing transformation and is not quite as helpless as she thought. Their love may happen quick, as it does in most romance novels, but it is born out of a need to protect this small, beautiful woman by a large, muscular, alpha man. The chemistry between them is hot! I love the little sing song tease that Ramie gave Beau in regards to Ari. I also really like it when past characters play big roles in current books in a series. I can't wait to read the next book in this fabulous series. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
