A francophile such as I is submersed in such a book. The story evolves at a perfect pace and the characters real and imagined are very engaging. It begs a sequel as I should love to spend more time with these characters in a Paris I know so well. Thank you Ruth Reichl!
  • Tired of women and children’s sexual assault used as trope

Stopped reading at the child sexual abuse. It’s not enough for a woman to have to deal with being a wallflower her whole life and learn who she is but she has to be sexually assaulted as a child as well? I am not downplaying this happening in real life but the overuse of it in novels has started to desensitize people to the very real issue.
