Great world-building, fantastic insight into politics, war, and religion, and characters that hooked me instantly. Stayed up late (repeatedly) to read it and then couldn’t stop thinking about it. Highly recommend.

I expected this to be a good tale. It was. I missed a few days of work while reading it because I failed to sleep. It’s very good… plan accordingly.

I really had high hopes for this book based on the amazing reviews, but honestly I didn’t enjoy it all that much. The beginning and end had me hooked, but everything in the middle ended up feeling rather tedious and lackluster.

I love this genre but I've never heard of this series until I found it randomly... What a jewel to stumble on. Excellent read beginning to end. Can't wait to start the second book

Story is very well written. Picked the book up and couldn’t stop until I was done. Character development is slow and very thought out, you really get a sense of the characters. The world building is also very good, though it’ll have to take a lot of remembering to understand everything fully. One of my top 3 books for sure.

Top 5 fantasy books of all time for me love it maybe top 10 overall

This is a good read, put simply. The classic development of a warrior who doesn’t wield a magical solution and also isn’t thrust into a pedantic world where “Good” doesn’t exist, everyone is evil at heart. And no “spice-it-Up” sex scenes. At least until the unfortunate sequels. One of those excellent first-in-a-series-that-falls-apart
