First able I'm sorry for crying most of the book.., your story is touching but also the most honest toll story. I have read, and I am so happy for you to be a normal gamble young man... This book takes the blinders off for us to slow down and look around at how are we running through day to day, taking note of those around us. This is a well written, tenderhearted must read. This book opened my perspective to those in our daily life that may need encouragement and guidance. This will be a great read for those embarking on the world, to leave with this awareness. I Beat the Odds also reinforced the investment in oneself and the power of dedicated hard work, day in and out is how one can invest in them-self. This isn't about finding a rich family to invest in you, it is about how to maximize the resources available to invest in yourself. I loved it!

how many pages is this book?

I purchased the book because I loved the movie "Blind Side". This was an eye opener and appreciated his openness about his trials and love the way Michael maintains his integrity throughout his story. Sound advice to all. Michael has a lot to mad about, but am I left to assume that God had something to do with this, but not much was said about this? He doesn't come out and admit it, but clearly his mother was very abusive and this behavior should not be defended or accepted in any way and I still think that it is better for young children to be taken from this, because of the scars and pain it creates in their lives and marriages,unless God enters the picture. It is just to painful. It is awful the way she treated these beautiful kids and breaks my heart. I also understand the child's heart in wanting to stay with their mom.. This book has made me think more about wanting to help these kids. Not sure how yet, kids from these homes are street smart and i don't want to be lied to. Nor do I want to be in a situation where they take, take, take. Michael you are one of a kind, may you continue to touch the lives of those you reach out to, clearly you have a heart of compassion, which could of been crushed. may you also be blessed with an extra measure of wisdom, that you will always know who you can trust and love without conditions. Thanks to your educators and adopted family. It's really unfortunate, but financial support does influence the decisions we make and can put us in the right place at the right time.

This is an amazing motivational book. I read some parts to my children about working hard for something you love. So brave to tell his story and so selfless. Not many people would share their life stories and he put it all out there the good, bad and ugly. It proves that anyone can over come adversity, it all depends on you. Loved it....

This is the single most inspirational book I have ever read, next to the Bible. I laughed, I cried, I held my breath, I cried, I reflected, I cried, I visualized passages, I cried, I smiled, I cried, I prayed, I cried, I thanked God for my many blessings, and I cried, but lastly, I was in awe of this amazing young man's conviction, courage, honor and strength to indeed, blow the odds away! Michael Oher is indeed a positive role model on so many levels. I am encouraged and inspired by his story and will be forever grateful that I read it and can pass it along to my own children. I cannot wait to place certain quotes onto my refrigerator for my children to read everyday. May God continue to bless Michael's life and may Michael continue to give God the glory and honor!

What a great message watched to movie, and then read this book!! Gives you an overall warm feeling and opens your eyes to see in life we shod take advantage of opportunities and always stay positive!!
