  • More depressing than funny

These people are nothing but mean to each other. And the ending makes it worse.

Very good writer, not my religious beliefs, but did learn so many things about the Catholic Church that I thought possibly had faded from the old traditional ways. These generations of family showed me I had much to learn about this Faith. A family story that keeps the reader sticking to what is going to happen next. Do recommend for an entertaining read.

I should have stopped after the first 50 pages. I blame myself for this because I have been sucked into other "this is going nowhere" books many times before. The characters have nothing exciting going on in their lives. Even MY life is more exciting than this. Don't waste your money.

I must strongly disagree with the reviewers who did not like the book. There is not a lot of plot or fast action, but there doesn't need to be. This is a story of family, about people and personalities and life and misunderstandings. It is sometimes funny, picturesque and sad. Number 14 said it just right. I loved this book!

The characters in this book feel like real people...imperfect,but still lovable. I enjoyed getting to know each woman in this complicated family. They could be truly exasperating, yet each had redeeming qualities. I definitely recommend this book, especially if you enjoy family dynamics.

I did not care for this book. A bit boring, the story line started no where, went no where and ended no where. Not worth the read.
  • Good book... Weird ending

I really enjoyed this book, but the ending was weird and rather abrupt.

Like all one-character-at-a-time perspective chapter books, I hated each character as the others told about them, then came to understand if not empathize with them in their own. The only real difference here is how despicable some of them are, but hearing from their own point of view, I almost forgot to hate them.
