I'm 13 and my older brother had to read this story for his summer reading and I eventually picked it up. At little confusing at times, but overall, an awesome book! I learned so much about viruses and it truly creeped me out but intrigued me at the same time. During the last few chapters, i was shaking like crazy with excitement!

I received a paperback copy of this book over five years ago. It is, frankly, rather creepy, but one of my favorites nevertheless. Richard Preston writes "The Cobra Event" in a rather similar style to "The Hot Zone" and "The Demon in the Freezer", although the latter two are nonfiction, which makes this book-- about a man-made, lethal virus being released in NYC-- all the more eerie. The book has quite a bit of gore; better avoid it if you're squeamish. Definitely a great read if you're fond of fiction about bioterrorism and infectious diseases..
