I recently began taking care of companions (mostly dogs) full-time and I was interested in gaining more knowledge about how to become a more fulfilling leader. This book gave me exactly what I was looking for, tips and tricks in order to reach a dog’s inner breed/personality. At times, it may take awhile to properly bond with a dog but once someone reaches that emotional level, they both will know it. It’s not just important to be a leader, but a leader and a friend at the same time. I do wish there was more in-depth information about the later years of these dog’s lives but I assume Cesar covers more information about the later years of other dogs in his other books.
  • This helped me so much

This helped me when I got my dog, and I’ve read it multiple times since then. I actually liked reading the autobiography part because I found it interesting. The training isn’t torturous. If you really look at his dogs, they are genuinely happy and healthy. Dogs can’t fake that.
  • How to Raise the Perfect Dog

This could just as easily been titled " How to Raise the Perfect Owner". Having just finished the book, I quickly opened a cozy mystery and within pages I read of a Labrador pup doing everything wrong and the protagonist allowing it. I'm thinking, "oh, no girl, you need to...". Thank you, sir.
  • Basic knowledge, but ultimately not enough meat on the bone.

This book lays the foundation and gets a good bit of the way there, but ultimately feels flat and incomplete. Cesar teeters between a new dog owners manual and an autobiography of personal stories and anecdotes. Somehow the two don’t quite mesh.
  • The best book you can buy when getting a puppy

Cesar returns with an exponential amount of information for first time dog owners and puppy parents. The way he explains dog psychology and behavior is fool-proof. I recommend this book to anyone thinking of getting a dog but especially a puppy.

This book was incredibly helpful and descriptive. I pick up my cavalier puppy in 9 days. How to Raise the Perfect Dog, along with one other breed-specific book, have prepared me for the long journey ahead. Cesar's methods are of positive reinforcement and patience. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone planning on or considering getting a puppy. Thank you Cesar!

Cesar's methods do work and I have fixed many problem dogs with his methods. I have learned a lot from him I never could have accomplished without him. I Thank Cesar for helping me learn how to better communicate properly with my dogs and others, and for the many dogs he himself has rehabilitated! He is blessed with a wonderful gift, he is a very heartwarming person of hope.
  • Perfect Puppy

This book clearly serves its purpose and clearly explains how to raise the perfect puppy. No ticks or gimmicks, just clear outlines of the necessary work of raising a new member of the family. Cornet jokes and written in plain language make this book an easy read. I wish every dog owner was required to read this book before they were allowed to adopt a dog!
