Description

Spy turned art restorer Gabriel Allon finds himself accused of murder in this New York Times bestseller from Daniel Silva.

An Israeli spy by trade and art restorer by preference, Gabriel Allon arrives in Zurich to restore the work of an Old Master for a millionaire banker—and finds himself standing in blood and framed for the man’s murder.

While trying to clear his name, Allon is swept into a spiraling chain of events involving Nazi art theft, a decades-old suicide, and a dark and bloody trail of killings—some of them his own. The spy world Allon thought he had left behind has come back to haunt him. And he will have to fight for his life—against an assassin he himself helped train.

Kept me reading late into the night with both the intrigue of the mystery as well as the historical background. Daniel Silva spins a great yarn and I might be just a little bit in love with Gabriel Allon.

Superior writing but it all means little with weak twists at the end. Editors should know better and not let a book that takes so much effort resort to Get Smart ' double triple agents'.
  • Historically fascinating

The plot is exceptionally good. A real page turner. I was amazed that many works of art plundered by the Germans are still missing. It make the story interesting and believable.

Finished in less than 24 hours. Felt I was part of the story and could not stop reading. This is the way I read Ludlum; how great to find another author with the skill/artistry to let you escape and make you think.
  • A real page turner.

I have over the summer read all Silva's books. He is an excellent story teller. His details move the story along and add great interest. Since I work long hours, travel outside the US is non-existent. I admire the passion of Gabriel and envy the places he has visited. I did not read the books in order, yet that created no problem. The story and characters were fulfilling. His historicity is compelling. His faithfulness to the story (stories) of the Horror done in WW 2 reminds ALL of us the legacy that needs redemption. Thank you Daniel!
