I read the series and in my opinion, this was the best one. They just kept getting better!
  • A nice finish to the trilogy

The Beartown trilogy is simply, the best. Sorry there’s no more.
  • The book would be 50% shorter if they removed the word “hockey”.

This book was a hard read for me. Too long and a lot of repetitive writing. The book would be 50% shorter if they removed the word “hockey”.

A unique writer’s voice that charms and weaves a complex web of personal stories, both tragic and triumphant.

Reread first two books of trilogy just recently. While I liked them, this one plodded on relentlessly. Needs a lot of editing to remove unnecessary, repetitive lines. Never got truly caught up in this book. Relieved it’s over. Wanted to quit reading it but stayed til the bitter end. Disappointing.

What an epic way to finish the story of Hed and Beartown and all those who live, love, and die there. I’ve Often found the third books in trilogies to be the weakest of the series, not this one. It is the best.
  • One of the best books I’ve read.

Plot, character development and foreshadowing all combine with the authors words to tell a story of deep love found almost everywhere. And what happens when love isn’t there.
  • I will miss Beartown

Mr. Blackman, with The Winners, has completed his Beartown trilogy. Books I expect I will reread many times, and will recommend to anyone and everyone. The Winners concludes the trilogy in a way I feel is true to the story, but my heart will forever feel a little broken by. I will miss this town, these people, and I will hope that Mr. Backman will find the need to return to Beartown and allow us a chance to return in the future.
