This second chance, brother's best friend story was filled with trauma and angst, but felt more hopeful rather than hopeless. Lucas never thought he's see Simone again, since she left their hometown before he came home from overseas and stopped writing to him. Even the death of her brother, and his best friend, doesn't reunite these past lovers, until her grandmother is injured in an accident. All of a sudden, she's home, and they agree to a mutually beneficial marriage. Yeah, it's fast. But they never say it's fake, even to themselves. That's because despite her emotional loss, his career ending injury and PTSD, they want to make things work between them. The love is still there, if only they can communicate and share more...or, you know, at all! This was a great kickoff to the Carson Brothers series. We meet Lucas's three brothers plus Simone's childhood friends throughout the book, leading to maybe a matchup or two? As is typical small town romance, there's always the nosy neighbor or two, the wise and funny grandma and the gang of friends who have each others backs. I can't wait to go back!

One More Chance is the first book of The Carson Brothers Series, and can i just say it was a page turner. This small town, marriage of convenience, best friends sister, second chance, ex military romance was full of suspense, love, hope, second chances, rollercoaster of emotions and a crazy plot twist. This book had me laughing with the witty banter between Simone, Lucas and their friends, but it also had me crying. Both of these characters struggled due to traumatic situations in their lives. TW: loss of child, loss of family, PTSD, but the story was so well written and delivered that it kept me engaged and wanting more. These two broken souls who had been apart for 10 years find themselves again through each other and heal each other at the same time. I can’t wait to see a continuation of their story popping in and out through the other books to come. One More Chance is a TBR must. I voluntarily reviewed a complementary copy of this book.

Lucas is one amazing loyal compassionate man. Simone is one strong amazing compassionate woman. They have an amazing connection and the chemistry is off the charts. They have a lot of emotional stuff to work through. Could not put this book down had to know how everything turned out. The absolute best ending.
