so disappointed. very amateur writing. couldn't even get through 1/4 of the book. big disservice to an otherwise interesting historical period.

I really enjoyed this book.

A pretty good story about a difficult time. It jumps around from decade to decade and would have been just as good if it had been told chronologically. Too many character names beginning with "L" such that you have to think who is who when you come upon a name.

This is one of my favorite stories. I’m so glad I stumbled across this book.

Wonderful novel for those who love historical fiction. Beautiful characters that you can’t wait to learn more about and whose stories keep you coming back for more. Highly recommend!

You have to pay attention to the beginning of each chapter to which lady and what time frame the chapter will be about, but it is so good, with so much going on! I find this period of time so interesting and intriguing; and Rimmer has written this book in a way it that it feels like I’m there, witnessing these two women’s lives. Highly recommend!
