Grace Callaway has done it again. Pippa and the Prince of Secrets is now in my top 3 favourites by Miss Callaway. This story is a retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast fairytale. It is however so much more. It’s a story about second chances. A second chance at love, a second chance at finding oneself. This installment in Lady Charlotte’s Society of Angels while connected to the previous novel can be read as a standalone. The heroine, Pippa is a widow who has been emotionally scarred by her marriage. Her marriage resulted in her isolating herself from her family and doubting herself. Her hero Timothy Cullen (Cull) leads a band of children who gather information and whom he helps to protect. I love stories where the hero and heroine have a past. I have a soft spot for novels where the hero and heroine share a past. If done right it provides a credible foundation for the hero and heroine’s. Miss Callaway has done it right. For Pippa and Cullen their past encounter was during their childhood but it impacted them both deeply. Cull shows such vulnerability. He is now my number 2 Grace Callaway book boyfriend. He almost knocked Ambrose out of his number 1 position. I thought that was an impossible feat. It was wonderful to see how the relationship resulted in development in both the hero and the heroine. Cull realized that he could share his “burden” and he did not have to condemn himself to a life without a life partner. He found someone who accepted him as he was scars and all. Pippa found herself again. I respected that she was adamant that in pursuing her relationship with Cull she would be herself. She refused to go into another relationship where her partner did not accept her for who she truly was. It would not be a Grace Callaway without a mystery. I liked that the mystery was different from what I have come to expect. It helped to move the story alone. FINALLY I got to hear a tidbit about Helena and Nicholas. I have missed them. After all it really all started with them. Another good book by Grace Callaway. As usual she writes an interesting story. I was given an ARC for an honest review.

Loved it. Got a little bit like, do you really like/love me at the end too much. Their insecurities about themselves lingered a bit too far into the story than I would have preferred but other than that, spot on great book by Grace Callaway. Definitely buy if you’ve read and loved any of her other books.
  • Another outstanding addition to the Callaway Universe!

I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this book. I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I read it twice before writing my review, bought my own copy today, and now can't wait for the audiobook as well!! I'm hooked and you will be too. They first met when they were teens... 14 and 15 respectively. He was injured, she helped care for him, and in the end they shared an innocent kiss. She never forgot him. He never forgot her. Fast forward 14 years... Pippa, the Countess of Longmere, and the daughter of Gavin and Persephone Hunt (Her Wanton Wager), is newly widowed. Her short marriage taught her that secrets can kill and men are not always trustworthy. As a result Pippa joins the ranks of the Society of Angels. Publicly, this society is a 'charity'; in reality, it is an underground investigative firm that focusses on helping women when typical 'male dominated' firms will not. Having used this firm herself when uncovering her husband's secrets, Pippa is devoted to helping other ladies obtain the information they need, but sometimes her devotion makes her a bit reckless. Enter Cull...Timothy Cullen, the Prince of Larks. At age 15 he became the leader of the Mudlarks, not because we wanted the power, but because he was willing to shoulder the responsibility; a responsibility he still carries fourteen years later. Cull is a mask-wearing man of mystery who is adept at obtaining information. Soon the Mudlarks and Angels cross paths. Cull has been keeping an eye on Pippa and intervenes when she is in a spot of trouble. Of course, Pippa sees it differently and doesn't welcome the intervention. That's when the real fun begins. They each have issues to overcome, both past and current, but their chemistry is phenomenal and very, very steamy. There are so many things to love about this story. First, the mystery is actually a mystery. Often times I can figure out the mystery well before the end of the story. Not this time. Grace Callaway has delivered a plot that keeps you engaged the entire time! Next, the MCs are both flawed, but likeable people that you can't help but cheer for from the beginning. Finally, I absolutely love the way Grace Callaway revisits characters from previous books. Her Wanton Wager is one of my all time favorite stories. To have the chance to see how Gavin Hunt behaves as a father of a grown daughter is priceless. If you are looking for a sexy romance and a really great read, I HIGHLY recommend this story!

I only recently discovered Grace Callaway and cannot get enough of her story telling. I was anxiously awaiting this book and was not disappointed. The book is steamy and sweet and I love the love shown at all levels - lover to lover, parent to child.
