  • Dawn with a Duke by Erica Ridley

Erica Ridley’s historical romances never disappoint & always titillates your curiosity & imagination❣️. Dawn with a Duke is about Belle, daughter of a Duke, & Calvin, a genius & creative tailor, both of whom are trapped in a snowstorm at a posting inn on their way to Cressmouth (known as Christmas throughout England). Belle is an artist & as a woman can only work under a male pseudonym‼️ Calvin, though, admires her talent & she ends up illustrating his creations for his new venture! Read the book & enjoy the author’s beautiful descriptions of Belle’s paintings, snowy landscapes & meet the supporting characters‼️👍. I preordered Night with a Duke, the next in the Dukes of Christmas series! I guarantee you’ll enjoy many hours of reading pleasure with any & all of Erica’s novels❣️🥰. Carol R. Florida USA

Fit for a Duke. Well, an uncommonly talented tailor and fashion designer, named Calvin. What I liked? It was utterly refreshing to have our hero a tailor who is exceptional at his craft and his innovative business venture ala pret-a-porter Fit for a Duke. Loved that Calvin is socially awkward and not a rake. He’s charming and so much more interesting than the predictable boring old rake. Belle is a dukes’ sister and has been well trained not to think and that reputation is everything. She often lacks a spine and common sense. Though she is kind and a talented artist, she takes no credit for her work. I liked that they brought out the best in each other when they are snowed in in Houville (just embrace the Christmas themes). Recommend for a charming read that tackles class differences (she’s a lady, he’s a tailor).

Dawn with A Duke is book nine in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series. I adored this book. The plot is fresh and unique. Calvin McAlistair is the perfect flawed hero - reclusive, a bit shy, and sometimes a curmudgeon. A man with whom any reader can relate. Lady Isabelle is a delightful heroine. Trapped in the confines of nobility, Belle longs for more in life. Her plight was accurately portrayed - a wealthy woman caught in the expectations of her family and society. Most of these women had very little say in their destiny. This author does a magnificent job weaving the Regency Era and its trappings with a dream-like romance. So far, my favorite book in this series.

Lady Isabelle and Calvin McAlistair meet when a blizzard strands them at an inn just outside of Cressmouth, the Christmas town. Isabelle to pretend to be a wealthy widow to protect her reputation. Isabelle and Calvin have a lovely dinner. When they go upstairs to retire, Isabelle realizes that with her maid ill with the flu and the inn is short of staff for the same reason, she is going to need help with her buttons. She turns to Calvin for help, and the fun begins. Calvin is a brilliant clothing designer and Isabelle is an extremely talented artist. They work together to produce a catalogue of clothing for Calvin’s new (hopefully) business. The more time they spend together, the stronger their attraction grows. Everything is absolutely wonderful until the snow stops and Isabelle reveals who she really is. What happens now? This is a charming story filled with humor and warmth. The main characters are from different stations, but are perfect for each other. Each of them appreciates the talent of the other. They work and laugh together and make each other feel good. There is no nasty villain and not much angsty drama. I enjoyed and recommend this delightful romantic tale in the spirit of Christmas and Cressmouth, a lovely addition to this happy series. Oh, yeah, there are nine drummers drumming. You and Calvin have to look closely to find them. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Belle is the daughter and sister of a Duke. She has always felt unwanted and second best. Until, she meant Calvin. Calvin is a tailor with big dreams when he meets Belle. When they collaborate on his project it turns to greatness along with romance.
