Great story premise with lots of action and intrigue. Couldn’t stop reading once I started. Definitely worth it.

Once again, Preston and Child deliver a fascinating complex who done it! The book was a slow burn to a satisfying end, never could see anything coming, and completely engaged the reader. I have to hand it to the authors, they know what they’re doing, they have it down to a polish, it’s simply such an enjoyable experience to read this book! Loved it! Larry Sotoodeh

This wasn’t the greatest book in the world but it was a solid ride. It was gripping enough to keep you very much involved. There were many mysteries happening and the resolution was, in my opinion, solid. Again, not a 5-star experience for me, but a 4. If the rating scale was letter-based I would grade it a B+ ... looking forward to Book 2 which is now available....

I love the book, the suspense, the twists and turns but as a 20+ year homeowner residing in Truckee I sure resented the way the book cast our quaint town in such a bad light. I’m sure loads of books where the story is set in a small, town have done the same but I don’t live there! Truckee is not at all the way it’s portrayed. It’s clean, friendly and has many lovely places to eat and shop. It’s a bit touristy, good for business up bad for locals. We’ve learned to co-exist with the flatlanders. My home is about 2 miles from Alder Creek. We’ve never heard of Lost Camp of course, it did not exist. The story is great, don’t get me wrong. I just had a bad taste in my mouth from the portrayal of this historic town.

I have read every one of their books! Huge fan! This one left me cold as “old bones”. Could have been a short story, just dragged on and on. The ending was rushed and contrived.

How can you go wrong with the authors and the recurrent characters. Great story as usual. Loved it!!

I have been a fan for a long time. Generally, I enjoy the books which involve Agent Pendergast in a more dynamic role. This is one of the first books I have throughly enjoyed in which he did not play a strong role. Very good read!

This book was an incredible read. The plot was well crafted but the ending was rather rushed and left me wanting more.

I expected more from this duo. The story is okay, but the big reveal at the end is not believable. Not worth wading through the gratuitous stomach churning details.
