This book was a delight to read. But then, all of Lovett’s books are a delight. I can count on one hand how many reviews I’ve ever written. But, I was compelled to leave one this time. Lovett’s stories are funny, well written, great characters and relationships. Even though the plots are sometimes a little thin, I don’t care. I love that Lovett doesn’t resort to sex to move her books along. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good romantic scene as much as the next person. But, it’s nice to have such a good alternative to the vanilla (okay, it’s way past vanilla) porn that is so prevalent now.

I greatly enjoyed this book. Poppy is a hoot and I loved the surrounding cast of characters. The mystery was good and I thought the historical setting was well written. I was disappointed about who the actual killer was and what their motivation turned out to be though.

Didn’t know till the end during an interview “who done it”. Suspenseful and thourghly good read. Highly recommend for an avid reader or recreational one.

Really nice character development, characters that were likable, relatable, and written in such a way I could almost see them, gun way to wrap up a crazy year.

I enjoyed the era in which this story was set—Hollywood 1920’s. This was an easy read and fun. The main character was clever which increased my interest in the story.
