Description

A much-needed voice of encouragement for every woman who had a baby and lost her mind

Sometimes, motherhood feels never-ending. A child is born, chaos ensues, and it seems like life will never return to normal.

In You Are a F*cking Awesome Mom, award-winning journalist and Instagram star Leslie Anne Bruce acknowledges that, yes, motherhood is a total mind f*ck—but then she offers the self-empowerment lessons new mothers need to get through the psychic upheaval and emerge stronger than ever. After childbirth, a woman's body, her relationships, and her very sense of self are tested like never before. Bruce encourages readers to look past the sugarcoated truisms about the miracles of child-rearing in order to embrace the real joys of motherhood, spit-up stains and all.

Loaded with unfettered support from a mom who has been through it all, You Are a F*cking Awesome Mom offers a lifeline of encouragement, inspiration, and community for the new mama who got a baby, lost her mind, and desperately wants to find herself again.

This book spoke direct to my mom guilt ridden soul… I’m having baby #2 and I really want to be more present and enjoy the sweet sweet time more than I was able to while managing so many outside pressures the first time around. This book breaks it all down in the most honest voice - speaking truth. All mommas should read this - first baby or third baby. We need to read these words!!!!

To say I read a lot of books to prepare for motherhood might be an understatement, but THIS is the one book all new moms should read. This book was like going to therapy for me because it was so raw and real that I confronted the whole range of emotions I experienced after having a baby. I laughed, I cried, but most importantly she made me feel normal. Although every woman’s motherhood and postpartum journey is completely unique, her words transcend so that each and every woman can relate to this universal shared experience.
  • Highly suggest - she keeps it REAL

Amazing, funny , honest , witty, raw.. all the things moms don’t talk about or warn you about. I love the vulnerability. It validated so much of what I experienced & thoughts in my mind in the first months as a mom. Highly recommend.

If there is one thing you should do before you are a new mama, other than making sure you have that car seat set up right, it is reading this book. As a new mama, you get a lot of good and bad advice but no one is REAL about the struggles most, if not all, new mamas and experienced mamas encounter. In this book, Leslie not only does that she is real. You will laugh and you will cry and you will be made to feel normal but the most important thing you will feel is her confidence in you for doing the best you can for your little ones.

This book resonated with my soul! I truly believe all women should be required to read this book before having children. Leslie is so honest, realistic, hilarious, yet compassionate about the entire process of having children. This book got me through a very hard postpartum period and I still pick it up and reread it when I need a little pick me up or laugh. I couldn’t recommend this book more!
