Completely does not follow all the events in 17. Really feel ripped off. Total disappointment. Shame on you Patterson and your publisher

I did not read the reviews of this book until after I had already purchased it and was a quarter of the way through. I’ll admit that I was prompted to read them at that juncture because I thought that perhaps I purchased the wrong book and this was not part of the Women’s Murder Club series since the storyline was so different. However, having read all of the preceding books I would have read this one regardless of the reviews. And I disagree with the sentiments that there was too much focus on Joe and not enough focus on the other club members. I actually found it refreshing to get insights into his way of thinking and processing cases, as well as his role in the FBI. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and think it may be one of my favorites from the series thus far. For those who commented on the lack of dialogue about Julie, their daughter was only about 2 years old in book 17 and this book was told from 5 years ago so she wouldn’t have been born. :-)

Did not this book. Read more like a Tom Clancy book,then a women’s murder club series’s ( I have read all of the women’s murder club series books)

This was not a Woman’s Murder Club book. It was Lindsey and Joe and it wasn’t even good. When I finished I was mad that I had spent my time and money on this. You need to do better next time or I’m done.

I have read all of this series and so anticipated this one. What a major disappointment. Too much of Joe, and all the women’s club did was meet for coffee. Did her baby vanish and what happened to Lindsay’s pregnancy? Far too cosy coincidences like having the same bad guy for both Joe and Lindsay.Next time I will read the book reviews first and not pre-order.

Many of Patterson’s books have been utter disappointments. His so-called partners just can’t write and Patterson does not have the sense to kill the book. This book, however, is excellent. He’s co-writer can tell a story. More, please.

Banal, not a lot of continuity. Where is their daughter Julie, at least the the current day part of the story!

As a dedicated reader of all things Patterson, I am particularly fond of the Patterson and Petro collaboration . They always deliver a good story. However, for me, The 18th Abduction was not true to the character interactions that make the Women’s Murder Club my favorite series. The 18th Abduction focused on Joe and Lyndsey, but barely touched the other characters that make this series such a good read. This story should have been a novel apart from the Murder Club series. The characters, other than Lindsey, were thrown in, almost because they had to, but were not crucial to the story. The Women’s Murder Club series thrives on the chemistry between the women involved. Even though The 18th Abduction was an interesting story, I did not feel it met the series’ true nature, and therefore I could not give it 5 stars. Dee M Kramer
