This book was amazing. The scenario was believable and realistically presented. The characters were mostly well developed. (Jay being an exception— who would turn down a firearm in this scenario?) I was anxious the whole time I read it.... all in one day. Awesome story well told.

It took me a little time to get through the setup, but then I couldn’t put this book down. I’ve become invested in these characters, and want to read more about them. I thought the breakdown of civilization was pretty much accurately presented. Definitely no sugar coating. I would recommend this to a friend.

So...I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it enough to buy the second book. Some things bugged me and pulled me out of the story. There are some social or cultural cliches that are at least tired if not simply false. Privileged, entitled college kids unwilling to recognize the harsh reality of their situation. Indications that the first two encounters with bad guys happen to be Hispanic? The general assumption that most people are purely going to be out for themselves. This is nicely challenged in the daughter's storyline. It's a good story. I do like it. I will continue with it. Hopefully any reservations I have will be dispelled with further reading. Thanks.

I couldn’t put the book down. I haven’t even eaten since I started reading it. Now I’m just upset that I have to wait until payday to get the rest!
