Yup, I’m attached to this author, writing style, story and these wonderful characters! The only thing staying my thumbs from downloading the next book, is writing a woefully short review. I’ve written before that I usually read books waayyy more removed from currently capable science. I can’t NOT enjoy this trilogy. Every step the story reminds you to move forward with what you can’t change, take a moment to realize and enjoy what you DO have, and to plan and work towards what you want in your future. On to the final book in this series.. before I move on to other series written by the same incredible author.

If you like sci-fi and just a good read then enjoy. Book 2 of the series and already downloaded the third and ready to enjoy.
  • Torturous.

I wanted to like these books, I love a good space opera. This is not one. It’s not quite awful, but it tries very hard to achieve it. From the other reviews I expected a great deal more from this second book in the series. Ethan, who is supposed to be regarded as a great natural tactician, manages to get nearly everyone around him killed. Upon arrival on a planet, he builds fortified positions and entrenchments, only to immediately abandon these at the first sound of gunfire, resulting in the loss of an entire squad. The author seems to have zero grasp of strategy himself, as he continually has the entire “elite” military force making monumentally disastrous choices. The effects of these horrific deaths seem to have only a passing impact upon our hero, as a few hours later finds him ogling his superior officers butt, only interrupted by events. I find Ethan himself totally unsympathetic character with few, if any redeeming qualities. I found myself unable to parse most of the author’s descriptions, and frequently had to reread parts of battles due to the terrible lack of detail. These are merely a few of the utterly nonsensical and poorly written details that for only the third time in my life caused me to abandon a novel I purchased halfway through.

Started reading and couldn’t stop. Very few series I’ve read and couldn’t put it down this and the first I think are great.

Good books. The hero seems to get advanced a little easier than I’d expect, and things go his way a lot, but it’s a good read. Plot is complex and characters likable and well developed.

It's good to read a book that is completely different from today's life. Good SciFi book and good characters. Under pinning of politics with war. Good guys and bad guys and those that are unknown. Waiting for number 3 to finish story, I hope, but I don't see how.

Better than the first in this series. Action, some intrigue, some love, and a soldier becoming a Leader and a Hero. Read this in 1 day. I couldn’t stop reading it.

Book 2 Legion Rising is a good read, that unfortunately ended before the storyline is over! I expected the war vs. the Lubin’s to finish in the book. Made me feel cheated.

Good, fast read. Plot moves quickly without getting bogged down. Wish the book was a bit longer.
