This book is exactly what the cover describes, a memoir. So much more than a sex, drugs and rock & roll book. It’s a deep insightful study of one’s self. Flea is a sensitive, thoughtful writer who isn’t afraid to be seen emotionally and sees himself in realistic light. So nice to see a musical talent without so much ego. All the memories of my hometown L.A. brought back awesome childhood memories as well. Thanks Flea. Music fan or not you’ll dig this book. Highly recommend.

Terrible book. Utterly boring. Hardly anything of value regarding RHCP adventures

It’s something extraordinary when a person can be relatable yet remain so enchanting. Like a moth to a flame, Flea’s passion for music is otherworldly. His love of music and his friendship with AK are the result of some sort of alchemy. For a story that is so raw, it is eloquently written. A truly beautiful man.

Flea reminded me of why I fell in love with music and I simultaneously relived the transcendence that I never knew possible...It’s so natural to casually grow away from all that once was captivating. Life happens. Flea brought me back to where it all began for me.. different time and story, but a reminder that I’m still me, and the music is still pulsing...
  • Wholesome. Provocative. Insightful.

We’ve seen what the tabloids have wanted us to see about fellow celebrities and their life stories, but until you hear the true depth of a person from their own words, stories, and emotions that clearly seep through every page, one cannot come close to understanding the impact an upbringing has on the music we love. This book is not only about the crazy drug escapades of a young man, but the life lessons behind every drug, crime, and unhealthy relationship that was interwoven into the creation of a musical mastermind who wants to spread the magical essence of music through funky bass lines and uncontrollable dancing. This book is worth the read.
